The translation of this game is an Americanized joke.
I watched some gameplay vids of this, and your absolute joke of a translation has assured that I will not be purchasing this game. This is a game about ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Otaku set in Akihabara and you have a character saying "Broski". What a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ joke. Whoever decided to translate this game in such a manner is a complete and total moron.

This is not a game being marketed towards your average "FPS Bro". This is a game marketed towards people who sit and watch Anime about cute girls doing cute things all day. A game such as this without honorifics and Americanized ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dialog is a complete and total joke and whoever is responsible for this disaster should be ashamed of themselves.

Yes I know, I didn't understand the slang "Browski" the first time xD
Just ignore it and listen to the voices... I don't fluently speak japanese but after several years (almost 2 decades omfg......) of hearing japanese I can get the general meaning :p

I thought it fits the game just fine. It's stupid, but so is the game itself, so I think it works out. Was that "Broski" thing something that's more common in FPS circles? I hadn't heard it before but I got the idea.

Ugh I hate these posts.

Let me break it down for you.

Japanese is NOT an easy language to translate into English. As a matter of fact, no one translation is ever correct, not even official subtitles from companies. Fansubs are not always correct either, so don't give me that crap that 'fansubs better than funis hurr durr' and stuff.

Anime like Lucky Star, or Watamote, or many others that have jokes, references, and all that tend to be changed in English for the exact reason that Japanese jokes do not translate well, or at all to English. Grant it, I'm not a fan of Nana's voice actor in English, but some of the voices in JP are making me cringe a bit, so I'd rather the English dub in some cases.

Face it, Japanese just doesn't translate to English too well in some cases, and the jokes that is Akihabara in this game is probably a result of that.

Lmfao, weeaboos like you are absolutely hilarious. Please go away and please don't ever come back.

Umm... I thought the localization was excellent actually. I was kind of surprised on the amount of effort Xseed spent on this one. Humor was pretty good as well. Not sure what the heck the OP is tacking about. I mean if it's that much of an issue, the Audio is still Japanese so if you "get" the language to the extent, turn off the subs.

Actually just saw "This is a game marketed towards people who sit and watch Anime about cute girls doing cute things all day". Pretty sure OP is trolling, since this can't possibly be serious (at least I hope not). The game is actually heavily ironic to the whole Otaku/Anime theme with a ton of in-jokes.

The first guy's just being a troublemaking moron, just ignore it.

I'd have thought people would be happier for the "bro" puns rather than just "Oniichan" being said over and over, but there you go rawr.

Wow. Mo-ron is a censored word? Really? O.o

Why trolling ? It's true it's a game for "weaboos" like some people want to name us. Not everyone is ashamed of loving cute things even when way past the 20's.

The "bro" puns don't mesh well in the game...
It's true that some japanese puns are not funny anymore when translated but I don't like when they "localize" things only because "we won't get it".

People who play this type of game are bound to love anime/manga and japan in general. It's impossible otherwise

c'mon, mate, except Browski, Brotector and other Bro-stuff translation is pretty accurate in this game. nothing too big. look at what they did to the upcoming Neptunia (there's a thread about it on steam forums) - holy-moly I don't get half of the script (I'am no american). this game is fine.
could've been worse *_*

The translation is fine,
the "Broski" and all other brother puns sound cute for the sister.

Welcome to localization vs translation. And neither world's are correct. They can only be close to correct! If you want 100% accuracy. Read the Japanese text only.

I don't think anyone is asking for "100%" accuracy. People understand the languages are different. But some of the examples given are really bad and don't even fit the culture of the game...

Can't the same thing be said for Neptunia?

I'm pretty sure Neptunia is highly enjoyed by a majority of players whether they sit around wearing a fedora or go out and get pu55y
RobDeLaMorte May 27, 2015 @ 10:26am
Well let me put it this way rawr; with games like this and Rebirth 1, the differences make it more fun than just a flat accurate translated reading. :3

Although I guess knowing more than like six or seven words of Japanese would make it even more fun... >>
Always Snowy May 27, 2015 @ 10:27am
I honestly don't even read the subtitles. The only important "translations" are the choices you make imho.
