and Roger is a game with a beautiful short story, some nice drawings designs and a relaxing soundtrack. It tooks about 1h to finish the game, so it's better buying it in sale. I recommend it! 💗

I am definitely confused by the very positive Steam reviews and the audience award this game received. Warning spoiler: I believe the game is about dementia If you read the spoiler or have played the game, then you know that means that we have a situation where we either take things at face value and believe they happened or we have an unreliable narrator. If we take things at face value, then I'm afraid this story is kind of gross. I don't mind stories that go into realistic human elements or behavior, but it's a strange message the story gives especially with the included religious language. Are we supposed to forgive or forget about the awful things that were done? Are the devs making a commentary on the situation in any way that brings light into the difficulty? The message I got was that it was no big deal because it was a difficult situation and the religious beliefs.

Of course, it's possible we just have an unreliable narrator that doesn't really know what's going on and they are imagining some things that are not nice. If so, that should have been made very clear, especially because of the religious message near the end.

I didn't have a problem with the gameplay. I thought it was indeed innovative, in a way it matched the mentioned spoiler. I'm just not sure I liked the story and as a narrative-driven game that's kind of important. I'm surprised that this game has won an audience award because are people just not critically thinking about what this story means or the implications? I'm troubled by the message conveyed.

I cannot recommend this game.

Rate 4/10. Innovative game in some ways, but the story needs to better told because it contains a possibly dangerous message that may have not been intended by the devs (assuming the best from the devs).
