"DX11 Required" crash on start

I assume DX11 is DirectX 11, which I am running and clean-installed.

I get this error immediately after attempting to turn on State of Decay: Year One.

Anyone know any tricks for this one?

The error is regarding your video card not having the Direct X 11 features required for the game. There's a big difference between DX11 being installed and your hardware being able to use the features.

They should have made more of a issue of the fact they upgraded from Direct X 9 to 11 for YOSE. Seems a lot of people bought it assuming it would run on the same hardware as the original edition, which it won't.

It might also be a problem related to you having a DX9 wrapper installed. If so, try to disable/uninstall it.

Either the graphic card is too old( it's only Directx 10 in hardware) or the DX installation is not DX11 (run dxdiag to check) or you are using some sort of DirectX wrapper ( custom DX dll or directx9 shader or graphic modifier like ENB/ Gdesato/SweetFX/etc... which you need to remove and then restart windows).

I am running DX 11 with a DX 12 ready card and I have this same problem.

dxdiag indicates it's directx 11.

My graphics card being too old seems like a likely reason; It's an Intel Piece of *** card so generic it reads under system information as "Intel Generic Graphics Card." Literally, that's the thing's name.

Guess I've reached the limit to what my computer is capable of doing. Oh well.

How so? While DX 11 cards will be able to run DX 12, there are no fully DX 12 cards on the market yet.

This is for the state of decay year one edition as listed on the store page, no clue why you are listing those specs as they're for the original version.
