Bring back the old version!!!
I would really like to get state of decay because I have it for my xbox but want to mod it for pc and based on some of the discussions I don't think I want to buy it right now. Even if the old version doesn't have support they should still sell it at a discounted price because it tends to work far better on lower end and average computers like mine. I played the new one on my friend's computer and it just lags and the mouse doesn't even line up with some of the stuff sometimes.

In my opinion, I think that the people who created the game shouldn't release a new version and just totally ditch the old one. I think you should bring back the original game.

Store Page Link

You can buy the original version with or without expansions at the above link if you want. I honestly recommend getting Year-One edition despite its flaws. Another patch is in the works, and mods are being made for this YOSE already. Hope this helped you out.

Can't buy the original State of Decay game anymore (unless your screen shows something different). Back when they released YOSE they removed all options to purchase the original game and instead had hotlinked YOSE on the original game's store page, so when you clicked to buy it would force you to get YOSE. Now it seems they have back-peddled from that idea and instead have just completely removed all links and ability to purchase "a game" from that store page for State of Decay, but added back the ability to get the DLC for the game which they no longer sell or support.

These guys can't seem to figure out what they want to do. Reminds me of an old George Bush vs John Kerry presidential campaign advert that said "Boots or Flip-Flops? - Bush 2004" with a funny picture of a pair of combat boots next to some sandals.

Seeing the original State of Decay store page now allowing people to once again purchase the DLC for that game tells me they have accepted the reality that the release of YOSE was a failure and alienated nearly 1 million of their original customer base.

Recommending it based on not even an hour of gameplay? Well, at least you cited that it is flawed.

Maybe not directly through Steam, but Amazon is still selling Steam keys for the vanilla State of Decay.

I'm recommending it based on my many hours in game while offline. I feel weird when people make judgements based on arbitrary, flawed data.

I've also got hundreds of hours in the original games.

just wait a while for a dirt cheap steam sale my friend, bugs (maybe) will be fixed by then. I had the xbox 360 version and bought this for the same reasons you are wanting to and totally regret my purchase at this point. Save your money and get it on the cheaps as I said.

You can still buy the vanilla keys from amazon? I might just wait until the summer sale then.

You can wait for a sale, but the bonus is going to be stripped or at least it's going to be a paid extra.

That sounds just like a handful of MMO games I remember that went Free 2 Play and yet even 2 years later you'd still find their games sitting on shelves at Best Buy for $39.99

Personally I think it was a mistake to discontinue selling the original game. Your basically forcing or cramming the new version down everyones throat. People like to have the option and choice of which one to play between the two versions.

Well, at least with State of Decay you are still getting a mostly functional product that won't be a total waste. I remember seeing them selling Star Wars Galaxies and Game Cards for it at gamestop, a good two months after it was shut down.

Yes, always smart to buy games through an unauthorized re-seller.

Pff, It's my money and I will spend it where I want.
I always use them simply because it's cheaper.

Also if you do buy the old version, then here are a few mods: http://www.nexusmods.com/stateofdecay/mods/categories/?
It does have a few for YOSE too.

It's funny how UL sneaked the old version back shortly after YOSE release. Perhaps YOSE gets such a bad rep that modders won't touch it with a ten foot pole?

The old ver is still not for sale on steam, are you confusing the base game with the dlcs?

Sure, it's your money. But promoting the use of places that can easily end up with revoked keys with no refund, well, don't put other people onto that gamble without telling them.
