I usesd to play this game and I reinstalled it and now everytime I launch it gives me the error, Cryengine: DX11 required, and closes.
I have a GTX 980 if they're incompatible or something...?

Same here...
My GeForce 8400GS needs a DX11 for run, but I have only 12, because I uses Win10.

Delete the game and any mods, then re-download the game again. Worked for me.

In your case it's your card, as the nvidia site specifications for it list it as "Full Microsoft® DirectX® 10 Support:
World's first DirectX 10 GPU with full Shader Model 4.0 support delivers unparalleled levels of graphics realism and film-quality effects." So you don't have a dx11 card, sorry, best refund if you can.

You can also still install dx 9 & 11 on windows 10 (it won't remove dx 12) so if totally uninstalling (and removing anything left over in the directory) doesn't help, try that from the offline dx installer.

They can't the game is coded in dx11, your card cannot do dx11 thus it will not run, you need to refund it. The old version is dx9 however you can still buy it on stores outside of steam if you really want too.

The 980 is dx11 compliant and way more powerful than my 960, it shouldn't have any problems running the game. Something else is causng this. I would've suggested to reinstall the direct x drivers that's in the game folder, but was already mentioned that you've tried that already, so I'm kinda stumped here too.

edit:
nvm, that reply was for azuredreams. Another 'oops' for me.

edit 2:
Added a quote to the post that I was replying to to avoid any other confusion. XD

Since I got the replies mixed up, I just wanted to know if you did reinstall/repair direct x 11. If not, here's a link from the microsoft site for it: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=17431

Didn't work. Thanks for trying to help though, lets just hope a developer responds.

Chris already pointed out why your game won't launch at all, your card (GeForce 8400GS) isn't dx11 capable, you did not meet the minimum requirement. The 'fix' would be for you to upgrade to a dx11 card.

Update! I fixed it. Apparently the game still had a folder even though I uninstalled it a long time ago. Inside that folder were mods which were preventing it from doing the first time setup for some reason.
