Pirate ship spawn rate
So far, a very promising start to the game. Good stuff overall.

However, there is a serious issue with the pirate spawn rate if they capture a single town once you control the entire area. It doesn't happen 100% of the time, but for me, the vast majority.

If the pirates manage to take over a town while you control the whole area, they just start spawning ships as fast as you can kill them. This leads to a situation where you have little to no hope of ever taking the town back if there is anything guarding it (lighthouse, sentry tower, etc).

I understand wanting to provide some difficulty, but this is a big oversight. It makes no sense for a pirate town to suddenly start spawning ships as fast as you can kill them while you sit right outside. There's legit difficulty and then there are bugs/AI cheats. Some attention needs to be paid to the algorithm controlling that feature.

I like it personally. The game would be way too easy with a lower spawn rate. I've been there with a guard tower right next to the last town. The town was right on the edge of a region switch which left no room for maneuvering making it even more difficult. It took time and it took some tactics, but I slowly made headway and captured the town.

As far as towers go, they're not meant to protect cities all by themselves. What they do provide is a cushion in time to respond to an attack on a town since it must be taken over first. Personally I'd rather be retaking guard towers than retaking towns.

Even though the game seems very simple, you need to use some tactics. The further you get into the map the more you realize you're not going to just sweep through regions. It's more about gaining more than you're losing, rather than just taking over gradually and holding all of your positions.

Pirates actually have a reduced spawn rate compared to friendly characters, unless you've set the game's difficulty slider above 100%. The key to taking regions is to stat on the outskirts -- on the edges of the map, cap those first. Only then move to the center. You can also use your allies to distract pirates. Hire them, send them to a specific target, go in the opposite direction.

The main mistake mos players make is they hire all allies they come across, leaving few to no allies to roam the map and do their own thing. Traveling in groups means you are only in one place at a time, with few allies left to protect the rest of the region.

P.S. if you have trouble, try to respec and choose Grogolov this time around. It's an excellent AoE damage ability.

Captured a whole area and got the pop up saying all pirates are gone. Five min later 4 of them spawn and take over two towns and a tower instantly. I recap one town and they took over 3 more while I was getting the one. So in just a few min I'm down 4 towns, eventually I cleared them again.

I don't want less pirates because that would be boring but something isn't quite right about this, they take over towns and spread so fast. Maybe pirates need a longer time to capture a town or something. Which in turn would maybe make them group up on one or two instead of going different ways, because it seems like they also each go their own way to a different town. I rather have a tough time trying to recap one or two towns instead of scrambling back and forth all over the map.

This is the problem I encountered. Down to 1 pirate town, then they take a bunch at one go and I'm down to 1 allied town again.

This went on for hours.. Couldn't progress as it was the second area, so I had to start over.

I feel like the spawn dont gets affected by how many cities you/the enemy has under control ):

would be cool for pirate attacks/raids or patrols (shows a red arrow on mini map where they will send in a bunch of pirates)

In the past there was a quest called "Pirate Raid" but it was taken out. Don't remember the reason why.

You know, I like the stock difficulty but I don't think combat strength and spawn rate should be on a single slider. Maybe we can get a "combat difficulty" and "pirate activity" slider as separate items? The latter slider could slow down the rate of pirate raids and possibly spawns.

How do you tell your hired allies to go to a specific place. I didn't see an option to do so but this would help a lot

@Kain: Go to the map and right-click on a town. I think it says 'Send Allies'.

I call BS on the dev saying pirates have a lower spawn rate than the AI allies, I have literally seen 5 pirates respawn from one town in under 30 seconds and not a single ally respawned.

I feel so same. It feels like that 1 town can spawn the maximum amount of pirates that the whole map can carry if its alive for too long.

Honestly its a disaster, time to quit the game , sorry i buy it.Got to the 18 talents area and its impossible took 4 towns impossible to go further been trying for 6 hrs straight.
Same damn problem pirates spawn continuous , allies are usless they roam around the map, try to get them with me they die fast and thats it.
Try bribe pirates but then cant bribe anymore as in the bribe menu doesnt show anymore (nice bug?) and no had just 2 allies left on map not 7.
Was fun at start but now its just UNPLAYABLE!!

That depends on how the respawn timer is designed. If each region has a set number of ships for each faction, and a respawn timer is created each time a ship is destroyed, then a group of pirates who are destroyed together (in the same fire AOE, for example) will also respawn together, even if their timer is longer than that of friendly AI ships.
