Except...they really weren't all that important, compared to the much larger European and middle-eastern nations. I get it, you like your country. That's cool. But let's not act like Serbia was ever anywhere near important on the stage of the world.
I'm saying this as politely as I can, but this Serbian nationalism stuff that crops up in every strategy game ever needs to stop. I don't know what it is with Serbia in particular, but it seems like every game where you can play as a country in that area these days, someone from Serbia shows up and wants to know why Serbia isn't represented, and then acts like Serbia was at some point relevant to world history. I'm sorry, but Serbia really was not ever important in the big picture, and was never a world power. They were relevant in the small area that they were a part of, in a very specific time period, but unless there's a "Total War: Balkans" you're not likely to see Serbia represented as anything more than a special unit or two that can be recruited by whoever owns Serbia.
I get it; Serbian history, and the history of a lot of nations in that part of the world, is bloody, and there's a strong desire to make sure that your people are remembered, and never again treated poorly. You want to make your mark on the world, and stay relevant. That is totally okay; the thing you have to remember is that the way to be remembered in this world is to share your culture, and not to just ask why you're not being noticed.
If you want people to notice you, and take interest in your culture, /show us/. Show us the really cool parts of your culture; for a game like Total War, show us your cool military uniforms, weapons, and the type of units that your country fielded in the time period during which you want to see them represented. Show us how brave your culture's warriors were, and show us why it would be cool to have them represented. Chances are, you'll find that more people are interested than you think, and were just waiting for someone to offer some insight into your culture.
Right now, all people are seeing is, "Where's Serbia?" We're not seeing the cool stuff that Serbia has to offer the game. We're not seeing reports of battles that Serbia was involved in, the equipment that their military used, the leaders that led Serbia to victory against its foes. Games like Total War tend to attract all sorts of history buffs, even casual ones like me, and we LOVE to see and read about different cultures, and their militaries.
You're like those ♥♥♥♥♥ on yt debating wether Nikola Tesla was serbian or croatian.
Answer: It doesn't matter.
