As a matter of fact, I gave a purple bow to a level 2 rogue from that level 20 Fighter.
That I have :) -- Hey there Stormbow
Yeah, we're aware of the numerous exploits. We had a feeling people would figure some of them out, but WOW, you guys are good :)
You do have a point. As SCL isn't an MMO that sort of activity doesn't really do much except spoil the individual's experience. Still, we'd love to see people progress naturally and have fun adventuring to find loot.
Better save system.
Looting system.
Exploiting.
Networking issues.
Better AI.
And a myriad of other concerns being posted by the community. I got jumped on by people for pointing out the faults on here and on the stream. I WANT this game to succeed but atm this feels like alpha.
I hope the story adds substantially to the game but I just don't see how adding story will fix the design issues and mechanics in 10 days.
What the guy above me says. The cheaters will disappear as soon as they come. They can't "win the game" by hacking. This is one of the games where if you hack, you'll have fun maybe for a week at the most owning other people modules. But it will die out soon, since D&D is about role-play, story, immersion into character, hosting cool modules, etc etc.
If you have a problem with a hacker, boot them. You don't have to play with someone you dislike. It is not like Diablo 1 where a hacker can pop into a game, rush Diablo at the bottom level, and ruin the campaign for everyone else. Someone running around with 999 stats will be obvious quickly (just hover your mouse over their portrait to see their HP). If they're one-shotting everything, you know what you need to know.
Have fun :)!
@ devs, you can harden the game by storing values in data structures with unique datatypes. Divinity Original Sin does this, it's not impossible (or really hard if you know what you're doing) to crack but it'll keep Bobby Script Kiddy from hackng 999 stat guys. And again, a stat checking system can be implemented and can simply dissallow illegal characters from joining public games - private or friends only games would be OK because hey maybe people want to work outside the established system.
But I see this as a potentially good addition. DM's have the ability to basically mold and shape encounters even more if this could also be applied to enemies. Altering their values would allow to create all sorts of tough and even funny encounters.
I say add it as a DM tool. Allow them to change all sorts of things with a lot more depth to it. I really don't see this game as D&D at all. More as a tool to create content for it and being able to see it played out more than anything.
