Rising World

Rising World

Proximity Voice Chat
The volume and proximity range need to be checked. Despite having the microphone volume at maximum in Windows and in the game, the voices are heard very low compared to the sound of the game. The range does not help at all with communication since it is too short.
My friends and I prefer to use an external voice chat to the game such as Steam or Discord because the Rising World voice chat does not work well in our opinion.
I would like the Rising World voice chat to work like the Dayz one. I hope you take this suggestion into account because that would give more immersion to the game.
By the way, does the (voice chat toggle) option work for anyone? Because it doesn't for us.

External voice chat is often preferred over in-game chat. The game is often just too busy to process voice on top of everything, so a dedicated client is usually a better solution. We usually use Discord.

That said, I'm sure Red will make adjustments to it to make it better.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention! We haven't touched voice chat for some time now... after taking a brief look at this, it seemed to work as intended on my end... did you set the voice chat volume to 100%?
Of course the overall voice volume depends on the microphone and the sound card. But maybe it would be helpful if we just provide a way to increase the volume to over 100%?

We can also slightly increase the range of the voice with the next update :)

Basically this just prevents the game from sending any voice packets to the server (or to other players)... but you can still hear other players.
Mabye it would be better if disabling this also disables other player voices?

Thank you so much for your reply. Yes, my friends' and my microphone volume are at 100% in the game and also on Windows, but despite that, it still sounds low and that, added to the short range, makes for a less than pleasant experience.
I love that Rising World has proximity chat, but I think it could provide a better experience with a bit more volume and a longer range.

Regarding (voice chat toggle) I was just wondering why this option was there and it didn't work. :steamhappy:
Hi Red, I appreciate the update you made about the volume of the voice chat, although it would be perfect if you could increase the range distance a bit more, since in PvP it is very necessary when a conversation with the enemy arises.
Thanks Red! Although in my opinion the voice still needs more range to be heard well at a greater distance.

this is something i've noticed as well, and it's unfortunate because i generally love the immersion of proximity voice chat in games, but i've had to use discord for my multiplayer sessions because the range on the in-game voice is so low it's basically useless.

since raising your voice in the game doesn't make sound travel farther like it would in real life, the proximity range should be based on what it would be like if someone WERE yelling, but right now it seems to be limited based on a whisper or quiet indoor voice- not at all suitable for a game that is mostly in wide open outdoor spaces.

like right now it seems you can only hear someone if they are close enough to be within the same room, but i think it would be better and make more sense if you could hear them even if they were a house or two away, just really quiet on the outer limits.

After the last update where Red increased the volume of the proximity voice chat, my friends and I have started using the game's voice chat and we have experienced several times problems with voice loss when we move too far away and then get closer to talk. There are times when one does not hear the other and to solve the problem we have had to relog to the server to be able to hear each other again.
I hope this problem is solved soon.
Another important thing after the tests we have done is that the distance range of the voice chat should be increased a little more.
As A.M.Goodman says, if you encounter an enemy in PvP, proximity voice chat should have enough range to negotiate life or death.

Hi Red, how are you?

I've also experienced voice loss issues at times when moving away and coming back again, and I also had to log back into the server again.
Indeed, the proximity voice chat in Rising World had been totally useless until this latest update where more volume was added, although I'm also one of those who think it needs more distance range.

Thanks for this wonderful game!

Thanks for letting me know! It's weird that the sound stops working at some point... I'm still trying to reproduce this on my end... does it happen randomly, or is it always reproducible (i.e. moving away and returning the other player always breaks the sound)?

Do you send voice constantly (by using the "Voice Chat (Toggle)" button), or do you only press the voice button when talking?

How far do you move away from the other player when the voice loss occurs? Is it just a bit out of audible range, or is it really far away (different island etc)?

Does it only happen since the hotfix? oO Or do you just use it more frequently now (so maybe it's an old issue which is just more noticeable now)?

I don't know if this problem already existed before the hotfix because before I didn't use the in-game voice chat because the sound was too low.
After the hotfix me and my friends started using the in-game voice chat to test volume and distance and within the first 30 minutes while we were playing the problem appeared where one friend told me he couldn't hear me but the other friend said he could hear me so I left and entered the server and that fixed the problem. Then we continued playing and the problem appeared again but this time it was my friend who I couldn't hear but my other friend could hear so we repeated leaving and entering the server again. This happened to the 3 of us several times in the first 30 minutes of playing so we stopped using the in-game voice chat and went back to using the steam voice chat.
I think this happened when we moved away from 20 to 50 meters approx and when one of us came back to continue talking we could no longer be heard.

This problem did not occur 100% of the time when we moved away and came back to talk. There were times when the voice worked normally.
Could it be that it was a problem with my server at that exact moment?
Anyway, I will continue testing and let you know if it happens again.

We do not use the "voice chat toggle" key because it seems that it is not working.

I just found another bug regarding the microphone. When you press the talk button and at the same time press the inventory button, esc, J or some other button, the microphone stays on.
I repeat again that the (voice chat toggle) button did not work for my friends or me.
