they have the problem that the lightsource is quite close to the EgoCam, so texture very close to the players face can get dark.
the torch in the hand provides better light. it is always in your sight but there always seems to be enough space for your hand no matter how close you are to the wall. strange dimensional phenomenon.
the standing torch is the more handy solution. a single torch costs 8 sticks and you can put 16 in one inventory slot. like other players I prefer those for lighting caves and mines.
the wall torch is like a holder for a torch, since you need a torch plus an iron sheet to build it.
it is cheaper in wood since the torch is only 2 sticks not 8, but it costs an extra iron per wall holder so to say and you can only fit 8 in one slot.
I work with the helmet plus some standing torches every now and then.
WOW thanks. I did not know you can completely resize the standing torch.

I now have a short wide torch and it looks so cool on things.

Time to play more with the resize feature on other things. I only play in survival mode so I did not think I could that with other items too.
Standing torches don't give off as much light and you can't attach them to the walls of the mine, they are not good at all for mining.
Some things can only be resized in creative mode and most/all can be resized a lot smaller in creative mode than you can in survival.
I still build in survival, but now there's times I'll switch it to creative mode just for resizing, etc. and then switch back.
I have one of the open barrels in my workshop that I scaled way down and then scaled and placed the small trashcan in it so it looks like a barrel trashcan.
Then again I'm also the type that still takes the materials out of my inventory when I use one of my blueprints. lol
