seed mapper like amidst?
are there any programs for rising world that you can plug a world seed into and it will give you a filled-out map for that world? i'm having a rough time finding a snow biome in my current game and i really don't want to start over since i'm sharing it with my uncle, who is new to the game and i wanna show it off to him.

(or at the very least, what biomes usually border the colder areas? i know if i see a savannah, there's usually a desert beyond that, but i'm not sure if i should be sticking to the plains areas or mountains or forests for the snowy areas)

(amidst is for minecraft what i'm looking for for rising world)

No. The World is not pregenetated, its produced on the fly. Which means while you discover it, the game creates the biomes.

All biomes are included though and it's possible that a dessert is close to a snow biome.

In the new version there will be for sure a more logical approach but you play the old version so you have to live with it :)

Just discover more of your world and eventually you find snow

is not about being pre-generated but being deterministic.
Amidst uses the same algorithm as the game, to calculate the map from the seed.

Alright, but is it existing for rw? I don't think so :)

If you don't think so, then it is so :) I do not visit the other forum often.

I wonder if it makes sense to have one for the unity version, considering that biomes will be on islands separated by ocean.

You got Avanar there.

Yeah, we do not have any of that sort but we severely need it. We need mapping tools to help see the world we are in. Hopefully either red51 or the modding side can sort this issue out. Maybe red51 can insert a helpful tool bundled with the world generation update. That would help greatly.

For now you have to explore, printscreen and stitch the map together. It's a painful process.

I personally prefer to discover the world on my own. But i get the point of course.

For servers there is the plugin of devidian, which is collecting the map data of all players on the server and consolidates them into one huge map on a website

I've used various Minecraft map viewers with Google type maps being awesome. It had security issues where random people could spam the chat but it would update explored chunks every 30 min or so. I loved how you could see where everybody was, not even getting lost. You could loosen up your dear of being directionally challenged.

Admist helps when you're seeking specific landmarks and/or even biomes. It cuts your frustrations in half. You also get to see who built what where, how to build your transportation routes, and etc.

I hope red51 looks into both the Google type and the Admist type. The Admist type would help youtubers and twitch streamers to set up a stage or whatever they desire to cover.

Red51 said he had a plan for a smartphone type device to share us these sort of features in certain ways.

Will the map in the Unity version be infinite?
I don't remember if a decision was made already.
If has limited size, then maybe cold biomes will be situated toward north or south and hot biomes in the middle.
I remember Red said that islands will have one or two biomes. Maybe if players want to get certain two biomes on a single island, it makes sense to have a tool which calculates and display the map.
Another aspect is that the islands are supposed to ensure that saves remain compatible even when the world generation is extended with new biomes. If the map in infinite, and if the player builds some bridges between islands, there will be no safe way to insert an island with new biomes into an existing world.
I wonder what are the latest thoughts on this topic.

As far as i know the world will be infinite, aside the technical limitation.

Red51 noted how world will be. They shall eventually be unlimited and stable. He wants to get the core features in first before everything else is smoothed out.

Menz gets it. Maybe you want that perfect island with the perfect biome. People may build bridges, I would instead build tunnels which shall eventually double as railways. Think Eurotunnel.

We are also getting boats so that shall be awesome. Mobile homes in the form of boats. Shall be cool.

Having red51's take on this for clarity sake would be appreciated.

In the Java version of Rising World it is possible to select the biome you want to start in, one option is the snow biome.
The only problem is as soon as you spawn in the snow you have to desperately run out of the snow area as though Demons are on your heels ( usually white ones! ) And hope you get out before the cold or the polar bears get you!
I wonder how hard it would be to code in the new version for the player to select two or three Biomes on the island they spawn on?

I didn't run out so fast. I made a tent, fire... but I was hungry so I went to find seeds and then returned and made a cave and created a cave garden.
It was some time ago and I probably also died a few times because cold.
Polar bears were around me in the beginning, far enough to let me in peace but dangerous enough to restrict my exploration area. Over time they went further and further away and I guess due to some game mechanic they might have stuck at the edge of the loaded chunks.
