the more you know
Secondary Attack= Slash
Thinner but Farther bite range
Rex: Less Health= 2,500
Secondary Attack= Tail Whip
Closer but Wider bite range
also the roar abilities. Rex's roar buffs other dinos attack. Spino's roar buffs its own defense and spinos turn radius was lowered. so now it can turn a little faster to counter chasers.
Spinos claws dels more damage than rexes tail swipe but rexes tail swipe is more covernumre
If you find yourself in a low populated server and decide to play tyrant, pick Rex and vice verca.
Health: 3000
Secondary Attack: Claw swipe
Bite range: Lowest out of the Tyrants, I find it incredibly hard to eat a player as a Spino.
Against humans: Always keep them on your front, you can't attack from behind as a Spino so it's incredibly easy for a pesky little human to walk up to you and shoot ya right up your butty, and as you attempt to turn around the human does it quicker and eventually kills you. Your bite doesn't have very high range either, so either be Robin hood in Primal Carnage or just get lucky.
T. rex:
Health: 2750
Secondary Attack: Tail slap
Bite range: Highest of the Tyrants, I find it incredibly easy to eat a player as a T. rex
Against humans: Ol' Rexy is an awesome class, it can attack from the from swallowing humans whole, from behind with a Tail slap and can step on you if ya get in it's way. The only place safe for you to shoot is either out of it's range, to it's side or if it's netted. But this apllies to all of da Tyrants.
Personally, I find the Rex a much better class and a more powerful one, yes Spino has 250 more health but that's not very much at all. Rexy's just better overall IMO.
There'll likely be some more tweaks made to the tyrant classes further down the line to set them apart a bit more, although I think the secondary attacks / roars already give each a slightly different role. The problems come from one tyrant being objectively easier to use than another. Also, with tyrants in general, it's a hard balancing act when adjusting things like their speed and health in particular.
Without being able to ensure a hard limit on tyrants at all times, it's difficult to know how far to go with them. They need to be an intimidating challenge when faced one-on-one, but not so powerful as to face roll the entire human team, since such a heavyweight class would be outrageously overpowered when there's multiples of them. Hopefully we can get tyrants tweaked to perfection further down the line by iterating on them in Open Testing, but for now the focus is on more immediately identifiable concerns like the raptor pounce.
