Unlock Guide & Finding the Real Ending
Hey everyone, expect heavy spoilers from here on out, so read at your own risk.

First of all, a community member is making a guide, which I'm sure will replace this thread before long:

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=648432595

Having finished the game a number of ways with different characters and having unlocked a number of different things and seen at least 3 distinct endings I wanted to start compiling information on how we can unlock various things and what information we can assemble on finding new endings besides the obvious ones.

I'll start off with the villages, characters and endings I've seen and how to get them (please post if you've seen others or have more specific details).

VILLAGES:

Desert Village - Unlocked from start
Forest Villege - Unlocked from start
Mountain Village - (???, presumably reach a village icon within mountain territory?)
Marsh/Swamp Village - Unlock marsh/swamp locations, then look for green village location near marsh/swamp tiles in subsequent playthroughs

CHARACTERS:

Bard - find the silver-haired woman playing her instrument in a forest location, dance or listen to her music, then agree to her accompanying you and finally speak to her at camp and finish the playthrough to unlock her.
Sun Cultist - Encounter Sargon a desert locations (esp. dangerous?) and fight a small boss battle, then forgive him when he is later encountered and finish the playthrough to unlock him.

ENDINGS:

Lose to Marok - Lose the boss battle - The Sun Cultists take over, all other religions are cast out, and everyone thinks the same way. Bad End. :-(
Defeat Mardok - Default victory ending (after beating the boss) - Sun clan is dismantled and exiled, the moon never comes back, and everyone's pretty sad, heavily implying the true ending lies with another hero(es)' tale.
Charm Mardok - Requires high charm (may require seductive reputation? gender may matter? 2 instances with Kubele, but Enkidu stabbed him - not sure if that was related to losing the party vote or some other factor though) - You seduce the boss, get married, and rule benevolently, but things still seem mostly unresolved.
Defeat "Mega Mardok" -

When you encounter the sculptor, travel in the direction of the two goddesses they mention, using the following cardinal directions: Queen of Heaven = north, Silver Sister = west, Pale Dancer = South, Great Mother - East. You should be able to find the moon gate; where there are four moon symbols on the ground. Step on them in the order of new, full, crescent, then walk a few steps to the north, you'll encounter Mega Mardukh. He is no different from regular Mardukh other than having far more hit points. Take his first health bar down to nearly empty and the goddess will interrupt the fight, and ask you if you'll forgive Mardukh for killing her.

Learn to Speak with Animals - First find Bayun and feed him. After that you neet to find Yagas hut and "demand", the scene will alter with Bayun jumping in to help. After that at the camp accept him as a new companion and he will teach you how to speak to animals. I dont know if all of this needs to be done on one map or across multiple.

These is complete hearsay, but given how the 6th character, Sargon the Sun Cultist being unable to fight/kill his brother, I expect there might be another ending reachable by using a high charm Sargon to talk down Marduk.

Has anyone tried this?

There are at least two other endings, when you encounter what I'll call Mega Mardukh. The part I know for sure is that when you encounter four moon symbols on the ground, and step on them in the order of new, full, crescent, then walk a few steps to the north, you'll encounter Mega Mardukh. He is no different from regular Mardukh other than having far more hit points. Take his first health bar down to nearly empty and the goddess will interrupt the fight, and ask you if you'll forgive Mardukh for killing her. Choosing yes produces what I assume is the "good" ending for the game. Choosing no produces a different bad ending.

ALL WRONG: Now, on to the speculation. In the very first starting zone, you'll always encounter a sculptor banging on a rock. She'll mention two of the town goddesses by name. The pattern that I think I see is that if you're able to pray at the statues of those two goddesses during the game, then an area containing the moon symbols and Mega Mardukh will appear on the map. This poses a few problems. On most playthroughs, the two towns that contain the correct goddess statues do not exist on the map. This means that you simply cannot get the good ending on most playthroughs. The other problem is that until you know what you're looking for, the Mega Mardukh level might appear and you might not go to it.

That said, I feel like I've seen the moon symbols and Mega Mardukh on playthroughs where I don't think I've prayed at any more goddess statues than the one I encountered in my home town. So perhaps there's another way to get the moon symbol area to appear.

I usually encounter the godess shrine and Mega Mardukh after finding a spirit gate and defeating the guardian

Steping on the new moon, full moon and crescent never helps me, but this is order a lot of characters mentioned. But it worked only once, but i don't remember order, and godess appear, and it was good ending, moon come back. Try to achieve it again, it's easy to find Mega Mardukh, but it never worked for another one time(

Pretty sure the two goddesses listed by the sculptor indicate DIRECTION. Each time I've encountered the moon symbols, it's followed that pattern. Use the mural of the 4 faces of the moon goddess as a compass, and it will be NW, SW, NE or SE, so you know which direction you should head.

It's been eluded to in some places that a witch's cat can teach you how to talk to animals, and I think I might've even met the cat once. I'm not sure how to get it to teach you though. :-/

I'm not sure what to do about Baba Yaga, but I suspect that having a certain reputation might allow you an option besides the 2 that seem to yield the same result at other times. Either that or maybe it's related to the occasional arena combat you can get in that's spawned by the house?

To defeat baba Yaga and get Bayun to teach you to talk to animals you need to First find Bayun and feed him. you can do it on different maps but you need to do something else than cooking to get events at the night!

Has someone found out if some Ending or the golden apples are needed to get the apricots from the Duskfolk?

I confirm that it works with the Queen of Heaven being north, Silver Sister - west, Pale Dancer - South and the Great Mother - east. The moon gate will be in a location that has nothing in it.

What's with the round panels with columns that sorta look like a hand coming out of the ground?

We decided to cheer on it and the game popped up with a link to this:

How many food ingredients have everyone found? I've gotten all but 3 (One in between flour and berries that looks like apricots, one between cactus and eggs, and one between meat and mushrooms). Any help?
