I don't dislike him, I think he has a lot of problems he needs to work out. His intentions are good but the way he goes about them is extreme.

I like David. He's a very complex character even if his methods are misguided, there are a lot of hints and subtle clues that he really just wants to do what's best for his family and the school... He just doesn't know how to deal with rich pricks.

I REALLY hope they don't make him a villain for no reason.

Seems like he is really struggling to fit back into society after coming back from the war, he's paranoid and on edge.
There are a few books scattered around the house that are about that, one in the garage and one in the bedroom anyways.

He does really seem to care about his family, just doesn't know how to show it properly.

Yeah no reason at all for him to be sneaking around taking photo's of Kate Marsh, that is not the job of a security officer at a campus in fact if he was caught doing that he would be at the very least fired on the spot to avoid the scandal that would create at the campus. I sort of felt for the guy until I saw his files, like why does he need Max's school schedule, pictures of Rachel, pictures of Kate, etc...he has a lot of problems no doubt about it.

Chloe is plenty miserable on her own. David has been around for 4 years and it's pretty clear that Chloe hated him and treated him like ♥♥♥♥ from the very beginning, but with David's dialogue and notes there's a lot of signs that he has tried to make an effort with Chloe. Slapping her, saying she's a loser for getting kicked out of school, etc. are all bad, but when you're stuck in close proximity with a hostile person for 4 years it gets harder and harder not to be hostile back.

Confronting Kate like that was stupid, especially when he could have supported her and helped her, but he didn't hit at any of the things Kate really cares about, which is her virginity and piety... He just says some none sense about her knowing something and choosing a side. Hurtful and aggressive, but not the issue that drove her to suicide. That falls on Victoria and Jefferson accusing her of being loose and promiscuous. Now he could have prevented it by being nice and earning her trust, and also if the player took the picture he probably was part of the reason Kate died for them( the correct response to Kate is: " I was afraid" and no player wants to admit to being afraid.)

Also Kate does seem to like him BEFORE the confrontation, saying: "I thought he was different(than all the other ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥)".... Also his parents and those 2 gifts in his garage, likely from soldiers he saved.

You can like Madsen and at the same time not condone his behavior. I do feel bad for him at times -- he is trying to do the right thing -- but at the same time he's going overboard and gets defensive when he's called on it.

To me it looked more or less mutual that they did not keep in touch. Max probably didn't know what to say about being forced to move away at such a horrible time for Chloe having just lost her father.

Chloe just got super depressed and turned to drugs, which is easy to do and makes you a really different person especially at such a young age. It seemed like they were separated by circumstances and that caused them both to be hesitant and over time it got harder and harder for both of them to make that call...

That's pretty much how I feel about it. He doesn't seem like a bad guy... But he needs to do something about that stick up his butt, before he bleeds to death and/or leaks ♥♥♥♥ out everywhere.

I'm not sure if I'd go as far as liking him, but I do feel bad for him. I think he gets a lot more criticism and crap than he deserves. Chloe would be incredibly hard to deal with and he's trying to do the right thing; he's just not that great at doing it. :/

That's unfair, Chloe is upset for a lot of other reasons, namely her fathers death. She mostly seems upset that David is taking her mothers attention away. Also Kates death I think comes down to more than just David. The entire school was harassing her and let’s not forget those who caused the whole incident to begin with. I think in the grand scheme of things David was one of the lesser factors.

David is a great character, and it pains me that my confrontation with him in Episode 3 may have ruined his life, but his secretive behavior needed to be challenged, and his refusal to reveal his intentions means he dug his own hole.
