That fixed the problem with GPU Caps Viewer, but I still get the invalid instruction dump file when launching the game. I extracted the opengl32.dll, as instructed, but I'm still getting the same dump results. I have 7 dumps with the same error message. I also have the -log parameter active, if it helps.
I noticed that, towards the end of the file, before the game initializes, it returns an error statement saying that "deferred_light_v.glsl" is missing from the x86/shaders/compiled folder. Should I try to verify the game files to see if I missed this file during the download process?
My log file looks like this[pastebin.com].
In my game installation folder I can see the files: patch_v2_or_v3_to_v4.bin and patch_v4_to_v5.bin and my GrimFandango.exe has 2,250,752 bytes.
In theory you should send the minidump files to Double Fine and they should be able to pin point the line of code which crashed.
Seems to be working fine for now. Thanks for the fix!
Any suggestions?
Sorry, if I'm being dim.
On my computer the Grim Fandango folder is located here: "c:\Steam\steamapps\common\Grim Fandango Remastered\".
Your "Steam" folder might be in a different place, I remember customizing the path.
And thank you for your work in making this game accessible.
Fullscreen: Cutscenes are Fine but gameplay audio and video are choppy
Windowed: Gameplay audio and video are fine but Cutscenes move way too slowly.
Running as admin seems to help.
Got it fixed up tho (Mostly, still crashes every now and then, but it's playable):
I used the second downloadable from the OP and put it in the appropriate APPS folder, however that did not fix everything.
I waited to access the options menu and turned the resolution scaling to Lowest, Advanced Lighting off, and put it in Windowed mode. (I did try big picture mode, but it didn't work with monitor I'm running the Mac's output to). THEN in game, I switched to Original mode.
THAT has finally fixed the crashes and glitches and stalls. I expect I'll still hit a few snags but it now runs great. This was all after updating to Mac OS X Yosemite.
Any more thoughts on how to stablize the situation are appriciated. I may also try this on my Bootcamped Windows side and see if I have anymore or less luck.
Works like a charm - thank you so much! :-)
