Are we going to finally admit this game is a success or we going to continue to move the goal posts again?

Meanwhile, actual successful studios like Shift-Up, expanded their studio after Stellar Blade's release.

Funny how that worked.
Shift up is still a fairly small dev compared to companies like Ubisoft, EA, and others. Yes, 310 employees sounds like a lot, but it really isn't by modern standards. Perhaps I should have specified that it's considered completely normal amongst the AAA studios. I'd argue it shouldn't be, never should have been, but regardless, it is.
This is the crux of the issue actually.

You see, Shift-Up doesn't have hundreds of consultants and managers interfering with their projects, which also means they don't have to pay a ton of useless people obscenely high salaries, while the developers get only peanuts.

Shift-Up gave everyone a massive bonus, and bought all their staff PS5 Pro's.

Contrast that with how overburdened Ubisoft is, this is why the game isn't a success, because the cost of development was SO high, that they can't even break even, with all the consultancy groups they have to pay, and all the managerial staff who get paid more than the people who actually do the work.

Where's the sale numbers for that one?
Unannounced, just as they almost always are. The fact that we get exact sales numbers because all physical Japanese game stores report their numbers to a central database is the exception, not the rule. But come on, let's not be coy, even if you had exact numbers you'd just insist they're fake because, for some bizarre reason, you've hinged part of your identity on a intense need for this game to fail, and now that it's incredibly clear by pretty much every metric that the game's one of the best performing AC games of all tie, you're panicking.

It's going to be okay though. Just relax. Get outside, touch some grass, you'll feel better.
also by contrast, Shift-Up boasted their sales numbers, instead of "player numbers".

Ubisoft Entertainment SA

-4.13 (-31.02%)past month

That is a drop of over 30% in the month since the game released - still think it is a success?

So do you think a single product actually has that much of an effect on stock prices compared to an entire world of other influencing factors?
...or that stock prices somehow directly reflect the actual reality of whats going on with a single product from a massive production studio?

That's hilarious either way.
Oh wait ..could it be something even more ridiculous?
Please reveal how silly this gonna get bruh... lets do this..

Final Fastasy 1 and Nintendo Wii saved Squaresoft and Nintendo from bankruptcy respectfully.

Those other factors, are their previous releases bombing.

How long can a company go, launching title after title at this scale, without making any profit?

That reminds me, the first Dead or Alive solely saved tecmo from bankruptcy.

Well ya see: after ten years, when those games *still* sell like hot cakes, and the licensing for the titles aren't as expensive as at launch, and they realize they're sitting on 20 years worth of material and games that continue to sell at full price...

All of that upkeep in the first 2 years makes complete sense. It also explains their dependence on MTX and DLC

So it got a lot of sales hey?
Show me how much the game cost to develop and market, and then show me how much the sales are worth.....

..... then we can talk. :steammocking:

Game has lost 300-400 million dollars so far.
Ubisoft stock teeters on the brink of destruction.
Ubisoft tries to steal its own most valuable IP from its investors by forming another company with Tencent.

Go woke, go broke. And then go to prison.

Both woke and anti woke are a joke.

Remember when the woke tried to cancel Hogwarts legacy and all of them fell on their faces ?

And now, it's anti-wokes turn to become a joke.

Ah yes, the "muh both sides"-isms.

One side complains about long running franchise turning into woke garbage, while the other side issues death threats, puts bounties on people's heads, fire bombs dealerships and charging stations, tries to assassinate politicians, terrorizes people in the streets with unprovoked violence.

Totally equally bad, both sides.

Sales numbers please. Burden of proof is on you.
Oh please, let's not pretend like even direct number straight from every single platform would make a difference to you. You'd just insist it's still not enough and that they need to sell some arbitrary number to break even, and that it's still a failure because Wilds sold more or because games that've been on the market for years have more reviews or some such nonsense.

At this point, your bad faith is blatant for all to see, and you're genuinely not worth even trying to have a real discussion with.
This. These people just revel in acting in bad faith. Literally nothing pleases them.

The number they would need to sell isn't arbitrary, do you people not understand how math works?

Development costs money, so does advertising, that money has to be recouped to break even, and they must exceed past that in order to make a profit.

Their stocks aren't plummeting for no reason. Investors are very angry right now for good reason.
dprog1995 Apr 15 @ 1:32am
Their stocks are plummeting because they made lots of flops and 1 success can't turn it around.
Prince of persia lost crown, their AAAA pirate game,Star Wars outlaws were flops.

They also had "development hell" games that drain their money even further.(Splinter Cell remake, Prince of persia remake, Beyond good and evil 2)

In some ways, ubisoft is now kinda similar to how Midway was in 2005-2008.(A company that only it's Mortal Kombat games were successful and all their other games were flops which resulted in them going bankrupt in 2008)
