Animations better or worse? you judge
Here is a video that was interesting.

What do you think? Do you think the animation devolved or are the user a tad picky?
We all remember how ME:A had issues with animations compared to the older games.

It can´t be the engine (even if they update it and such, its still Anvil)
So what is your opinion? do you even care about the animation?

Personally I think Shadows do look worse than older games in the series on some points, but then again the overall graphics and fidelity have improved.. however one thing I have noticed, is that many modern games lack proper animation of the face.. (we saw this issue win Starfield as well) where they forget to animate important structures of the face, like the muscles under the eyes and such..

When you don´t animate this properly, then you can end up with animations that looks very unrealistic and inhuman.
With the much better graphics we have here in our modern time (just look at the last 5 years) I reckon that we are more focused on realism, as everything else looks more realistic.

Maybe back in the days, were things were less realitic, we were less prone to see these errors or expect them to be proper implemented.

Take a look at Ubisoft's corporate culture and misguided focus (on things other than games) over the last several years, and you'll find the answers you seek there. (TL;DR - a focus on DEI never improved the quality of anything)

I noticed they did overlook some animations for facial, combat animations seemed to of improved, parkour animations as well, combat animations are solid but the finishers of course can be repetitive because of the same combo you are doing for combat, you can kick as well if you crouch and attack the same time, there’s so much I need to discover since my skill tree is not full, I’m on the 2nd line.
