AC Shadows 1 Million players as of RN
Confirmed by Ubi: https://x.com/assassinscreed/status/1902802072640295067

"It's not even 4PM here in Canada and Assassin's Creed Shadows has already passed 1 million players!

Thank YOU from the bottom of our hearts for joining this adventure in Feudal Japan. We are beyond excited to start this journey with you!"

People think we're trolling when we say that AC players are like 85% on Console. Players are out there enjoying this game while parasites on here spamming jester clowns.

You've been provided it from the only sources that can do so lol if you're upset about that, then that's a personal issue you should work on.
As I imagined, you don't have data like the steam chart, try harder next time, Ubisoft employee. :sunglassesDoge:
IT'S FROM THE OFFICIAL SOURCE!!! WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE!!!

The Steam chart shows the current number of players on Steam. Why do you think that has any bearing on platforms outside of Steam? Or even the actual total number of owners on Steam?

Do you think every single person that owns the game on Steam is playing this very second and that nobody has played the game on other platforms at all?

remember when Dragon Age team said this game was a success? And even have had damage control with Ign, and the rest of them saying how great and successful the game is.

Lmao.

I don't want to burst your bubble but 1 million copies sold is not that great for a game like assassin's Creed. At $70 average lets say would be 70 million USD. It was rumored to be $250-$350 million production alone. That doesn't including marketing/advertising. As of now with 1 million copies sold, they're barely above 25% of what's needed to break even. This isn't a success story as you're trying to perceive. Also this isn't me hating on the game just calling out the bs.

This needs to sell at least ~ 3 million copies
1 million in less then 1 DAY
You and I can both agree this is the peak of purchases. Your pre orders and day 1 buyers. For you to assume this height of purchase will keep continuing is a reach. Will it hit 3-4 million copies sold ? Sure. How long ? Prob not this year or next year. And if it does, that's still not even enough for profit. I understand you may like the franchise but this launch was a decently sized failure

1/5th their budget on the game lol, that is awful.

Veilguard said it had 1.5 million players. We saw how well that went.

Looks like their game design decisions paid off

"Female Shinobi - The Game" would sell any day of the week. I'd buy it for that reason alone if it wasn't an Assassin's Creed title.

Seems like a quality post from a grounded and mentally stable individual carry on, sir.

Even if Ubisoft confirms that Assassin’s Creed Shadows reached 1 million players at launch, here’s the math that raises red flags:

Revenue vs. Budget:
If a full priced digital copy is $69.99, then 1 million copies would generate roughly $70 million in revenue. For a AAA title, total costs (development, marketing, distribution) can easily exceed $200–$250 million. That means you’d need around 3–4 million copies sold just to break even not counting profit margins, ongoing support, or post launch revenue.

Historical Benchmarks:
Previous successful entries in the Assassin’s Creed franchise (like Valhalla or Odyssey) reached significantly higher launch numbers often in the low to mid millions during the first week. If Shadows only hit 1 million players, it’s operating at less than half the expected benchmark for a blockbuster in this series.

Profitability Gap:
Mathematically, with a revenue of $70 million from 1 million copies, that’s only about 28% of a $250 million investment. Even with additional revenue from DLCs, microtransactions, or later sales, the early numbers suggest a steep uphill battle to recoup costs and achieve profitability.

In summary, from a purely mathematical standpoint, 1 million players generating $70 million in revenue falls drastically short of what’s needed to cover the high production and marketing costs of a AAA game. This discrepancy between expectations (based on past successes) and current performance is why many consider it a total failure from a financial perspective.

INCELS LOST AGAIN

The fact they boast about player number instead of copies sold is very, very telling. But oh well.
LazyJoeBeard 20. mar. kl. 13:38
I wonder how many of the million players were given free codes or got it for a massive % off. Someone way claiming that it was possible to get 90% off on Uplay earlier.
1 mil that wont even cover toilet breaks stuff took to make game

I'm curious as to why you're conflating player counts from two different time periods as if they're the same time period. This game hasn't been out for a week yet so comparing it to first week player counts for the previous games is a little disingenuous, if not an attempt to be outright dishonest. It's very possible that this game won't reach the same player counts as something like Valhalla or Odyssey in the first week (very likely that it won't in part because the actual customer base is smaller given those games were on PS4/Xbox One which were selling faster than the PS5/Xbox Series overall) but maybe we should wait for that first week to actually pass before making this comparison?

Seems monster hunter wilds sold 8 million in 3 days and they used the word sold rather then it having players.
