Anyone have the IDP.Generic virus pop up when starting the game?

My Norton antivirus keeps blocking the game with this asking to put it into quarantine.

I then have to verify my game files with Ubisoft, but everytime I start game again, same thing. Is it safe to just ignore virus warning and start up the game? Or is there actually some form of virus within the game files?

Call me stupid but, what's a false positive virus detection?

Your PC is infected all right.... with Norton. It might be terminal at this stage. If it wont let you uninstall it's malware from your computer.. you'll have to put her down.. with a harddrive wipe and fresh install.

lol you're good. false positive is when your antivirus is tripped by an innocent program - in this case, idp.generic getting flagged is a false positive

Cool, so sounds like I should be ok to ignore then. It is a genuine purchase from Ubisoft, so shouldn't have any issue. Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it.

I have no problems with Norton anti-virus. It has kept my PCs clean for many, many years. Never had any virus issues ever. I'll stick with it, thank you.

Speaking of someone who's been in IT for 20 years and building computers for 26, the only virus on your system is Norton.

Norton is legit garbage and over the years, I've seen it cause far, far more problems than I've ever seen it prevent. My personal favorite was when it started just full on killing optical drive functionality in systems for seemingly no reason at random, which was fixable with just a few registry edits. Easy for someone who knows their way around regedit, basically impossible for the average user.

These days, you are far, far better off getting rid of Norton entirely and running with just Windows Defender (which has actually gotten surprisingly competent in recent years) and the occasional Malwarebytes scan if something does start acting up.
You don't need any anti virus software these days when they are literally viruses themselves. Like Norton or McAffe. All you actually need is Windows Defender that comes with Windows and common sense.

This made me LOL so much....
A truer truth has never been typed.
