Shadows is the THIRD most played AC in Steam's history
Title say it all, people are ♥♥♥♥ talking, forgetting Assassins Creed is a very niche game ON PC, and the numbers show it (not on console where the major sales are). But fact is, the highest peak EVER for ANY Assassins Creed game ON STEAM:

Assassin's Creed Odyssey = 62.069

Assassin's Creed Origins = 41.551

Assassin's Creed Shadows = 38,516

Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag = 16.049

Assassin's Creed Valhalla = 15.679

Assassin's Creed® III = 15.007

Assassin's Creed Unity = 9.297

Assassin's Creed Mirage = 7.870

Assassin's Creed Syndicate = 4.728

Assassin's Creed Brotherhood = 3.848

Assassin's Creed II = 3.617

Assassin's Creed III Remastered = 3.561

Assassin's Creed Revelations = 3.105

Assassin's Creed Rogue = 2.361

Assassin's Creed = 1.266

Assassin's Creed Liberation = 1.174

Assassin’s Creed® Chronicles: China = 590

Assassin's Creed Freedom Cry = 444

Assassin’s Creed® Chronicles: India = 130

Assassin’s Creed® Chronicles: Russia = 54

This data was taken from SteamDB and it's important to put in perspective the game is not a complete failure like the haters here say, just because "it'll never reach 100k players". Well, never in history an AC game got 100k peak players or more.

This means Shadows is good? No. But maybe this data make the haters to shut up for a bit, and let who's playing the game make the important critics, to show what really is wrong and bad with the game, and the discussion to be a sea of "LOW PEAK PLAYERS".

*EDIT: As soon I posted this Steam removed the currently players numbers, for sure because Ubisoft asked. This is a pathetic move, considering, like I proved above, this is the third most played AC in Steam history on day 1. It's sad that a company spent so many years not listening to constructive feeback, but listened to empty "LOW NUMBERS COUNT" by steam review and discussion trolls. Ubisoft is hiding a success in numbers (and I'm not talking about the quality here) because of empty trolling. Dumb and pathetic move by Ubisoft.

*EDIT 2: Numbers are back. At least they have the balls to show it, after messing too much disconsidering players feedback.

A game is either niche or it isn’t.
What about Ubisoft connect? How popular is it over there?

The franchise itself is not niche. Pretty much never has been.

The franchise isnt niche because of the consoles. On PC it was never well played, and it's niche in PC, only diehard fans touch it on this plataform.

Ubisoft Connect is hard to know, since they dont have any transparency on numbers. I don't think it changes too much the numbers tbf, everyone hates that crappy launcher.

You need to look in dictionary what "niche" means.
Assassins Creed is not a niche game by any standards, no matter what platform we talking about.
Also AC Origins, Odyssey, Valhalla and Mirage sold much much more on PC then on console.

Numbers. Show numbers, data, proof. Otherwise is just empty claims.

NICHE on dictionary:

"niche
/ni:ʃ,nɪtʃ/
noun
1.
a comfortable or suitable position in life or employment.
"he is now a partner at a leading law firm and feels he has found his niche"

2.
a specialized segment of the market for a particular kind of product or service.
"he believes he has found a niche in the market"
"

"a specialized segment of the market for a particular kind of product or service."
How you know something is niche? When you look the number of consumers it have. If its a specialized segment of the market, not everyone enjoy or use, otherwise it would be widespread popular.

Like I said, show me DATA, NUMBERS that AC on PC is well played HIGH above Shadows, or anything closer to Warhammer, Dark Souls, Elden Ring, GTA, Helldivers, etc, etc. And we can talk.

Incel cope post. It's only been out for hours and AC is a console series. 90% of its players are on PS5/Xbox stores and Ubi+ for PC.

Valhalla peaked at 15k and sold 20m, best game in the series and most sold.

Probably because it's the one everyone has wanted for nearly two decades?

It's just a shame it had all this unnecessary woke garbage attached to it.

The one people wanted is a Japan AC without woke and DEI BS. It's not what this is. After the massive complains they tried to glue it with some small fixes, like reducing Yasuke role in the game.

STILL it's not what people wanted for 2 decades, so it reflects of course on numbers. If they made it right, this one could be the first to pass 100k on Steam. Still its untrue to say these numbers are low.

2 hours impression so far.

  1. Graphics look great. (Not saying they're the best ever made, in case this triggered someone)
  2. Controls are buttery smooth, and character has some speed.
  3. On gamepads, The X and the B operations in the game are reversed from what they were in Valhalla. I recommend customizing controls and swapping every occurrence of X and B actions... I don't know if the Ubisoft developers actually play games outside of work, but using X and dodge and roll is 1000x more easier to do.
  4. Yasuke gameplay felt a little bit like I was back in Ghost of Tsushima.
  5. I hate the backwards sword stance. It's cool for lightsabers, but feels disrespectful of a Katana. At the very least, let Eagle Vision show footprints. This is how Valhalla would do it.
  6. There needs to be better mission objective direction. I got lost for 15 minutes looking for the poachers.
  7. The English voice cast sounds like they are absolutely uninterested in their roles, like they were bothered to even be in the studio. I'm guessing this is due to the good voice actors being on strike. Japanese-dub is probably the way to go, even though I tend to miss a lot of dialogue due to too many distractions and events on screen.
  8. WERE IS MY BOY BASIM?!

I mean.

Even if the game is alright. It has to do extremely well for Ubisoft's sake. it has to make up for the Short-comings of a handful of games.

Star Wars: Outlaws.
XDefiant
I don't think the last prince of persia game sold well at all.
Skull and Bones.
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora
Assassin's Creed Mirage Apparrently cost around $300mil and took while to break even on that. It's Positive but It took a while.

Ubisoft has a growing history of games that are either
A. Total flops.
B. Just kinda recover cost with a little on top.

Nope. Goalpost move because incels are upset that Shadows is getting a very positive reception from both critics AND users and good traction.

Valhalla peaked at 15k and sold 20m, best game in the series and most sold.

From where you take 250k is a feasible number on Steam? Your desires alone? Because it's completely out of reality, even if it wasnt filled with the DEI/woke BS, it would past 100k and nothing more.

For this one to pass 250k, Origins and Odissey should have reached at least 180-200k. Stop dreaming

This is for sure. Its a game with high numbers, but I doubt it'll keep the company alive. They did so many ♥♥♥♥ with their games for the last ~3 years (longer, but the WORST of the WORST was on the last 3 years). Didnt listened to players.

IMO that boat already sailed, Ubisoft is being sold or closing down.

You do realize that you start by saying cope and then making a point with data that is NOT even available to us? You don't know what coping is brother, take a closer look.

A game can’t be partially niche.
The game itself is not niche. Period.
It might be less popular on PC by you cant know that. So why even talk about it?
Miro Fox Mar 20 @ 5:26am
people seem to forget that AC has never been a Booming Seller.

they all want it to be like 100s of thousands in steam Playes at once, when it has Never gotten that.

its already 50% the way to Odyssey.
