Just wondering, how's Japanese lip sync?
Title.

How is it?

I thought it was great (played for a couple hours). It actually goes beyond lip sync, if you choose "immersive mode" (Japanese and Portuguese as would make sense for the characters) the whole face seems to be highly detailed motion capture. It's stunning actually.

That might also explain why some reviews say the facial animations are off; if it is motion capture then there might only be the one set of animations, and any other language would look like a foreign dub of a film.

Actually, I've had the opposite experience - also in Immersive Mode. The lip flaps don't look like they match the language spoken at all. Sometimes they don't look like they match ANY language and are just a generic 'open mouth because sound is coming out' animation. Noticed this a LOT with Naoe and her father in the three year flashback after the prologue.

Thank you guys
Maybe I'm just thinking of facial animations rather than lip sync itself then.

I agree. This is what I have experienced as well. Moderately disappointing
