That's definitively not the reason why there are so few players.
If they cannot beat Veilguards Day 1 numbers, which AC:shadows has an estimated development cost of 100-150m more than it cost Veilguard to make, it's GG for Ubisoft and the IP.
i played this game now nearly 4 hours and now i need to go sleep. because in 3 hours i need to go work.
There will probably be lots more people buying this game on this year and next year's Christmas sale
