I’ve been seeing a lot of negativity swirling around Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Ubisoft lately, and I just wanted to start a conversation about why we, as players, should give the hate a rest and approach this game with an open mind. Here’s my take—feel free to chime in!
The Game’s Got Serious Potential

Let’s be real: Shadows is dropping us into feudal Japan with a gorgeous open world, two badass protagonists (Naoe and Yasuke), and gameplay that blends stealth and combat in a way we haven’t seen from AC in a while. Previews are hyping up the refined mechanics, dynamic seasons, and a story that could hit hard if it lands right. This isn’t some lazy cash grab—it’s a team pouring effort into something ambitious. Why trash it before we even play it?

Hate’s Been Overblown and Unfair
Look, Ubisoft’s had its flops—Star Wars Outlaws didn’t wow everyone, and yeah, they’ve made some dumb calls in the past. But the hate for Shadows got toxic fast, especially with all the noise about Yasuke. The guy was a real dude, a historical figure, and Ubisoft’s spinning a story around him. It’s not “woke” or whatever—it’s creative liberty, like punching the Pope in AC2. People didn’t freak out over that, so why now? Feels like a double standard fueled by grifters who just want clicks.

It’s Hurting the Community, Not Helping
Dumping on Shadows non-stop doesn’t make Ubisoft “learn a lesson”—it just poisons the vibe for everyone. Devs are people too, and this game’s been delayed and polished because they’re trying to get it right. Meanwhile, the community’s splitting into hate mobs and defenders instead of just talking about what we’re excited for. Imagine if it’s good and we miss out on hyping it up together because we’re too busy raging.

Success Could Mean More Cool Stuff
If Shadows does well, it’s a win for us. Ubisoft might greenlight more bold settings or double down on what works here—stealth, dual protagonists, whatever. But if we tank it out of spite, we’re just stuck with less of what we love. I’d rather see them nail this and keep pushing than watch the series fizzle out.

I’m not saying blindly love Ubisoft or ignore legit criticism—call out bugs, pricing, whatever, when it’s fair. But the pre-release hate train? It’s gotten out of hand. Let’s give Shadows a shot to stand on its own when it drops tomorrow, March 20th. Play it, judge it, then vent if it sucks. Who’s with me on giving hate no chance?

Ubisoft deserves the criticism they get, but that doesn't mean the devs who worked on AC Shadows should be attacked, they have nothing to do with the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ decisions made by the higher ups running the company.

ubisoft stopped existing as a company that i took serious after that french mistake... they were riding super high with black flag having quite literally knocked it out of the park but every entry since has been more and more lazy more and more desperate until we get to now where they are literally just farming jesters and screwing over their own investers. we all know whats going on here the writing is on the wall.. taking odds on how many months it takes for them to announce layoffs and bankruptcy so they can further screw over their investers.
