Is this worth for a first timer of the franchise ??
Title says it all , I never played any AC and was wondering if I play this , because I like the Timeline of this one. Will I be able to play without issues or I should start with the older titles of the franchise to get use to the playstyle ??

Thanks

EDIT : Thanks all for the replies , most I see is the replies is the go Black Flag , Odyssey , Origins and Valhalla. Thanks for the tips guys !!!

No, I’ve played all of them, and I always recommend either Black Flag or Unity to first-timers. They’re cheap, modern enough, and perfect standalone games that don’t require knowing the previous story.

Better choice than trying very first one.
Yeah it's probably fine to start with. The "historical" storylines are mostly standalone (there are some exceptions but this isn't one of them) and the modern storyline at this point is so abstract and obtuse that it really doesn't matter where you start playing the series at.

no
Blackflag is a great first one but my only gripe is that the melee combat isn't challenging and I feel it has so many "trail this target" type missions. Otherwise, amazing game. Can't say anything on Shadows as it isn't out yet and haven't played it but you don't really need to play the older ones to fully understand the story. References may go over your head and some random stuff may confuse you but I don't think it'd be an issue.

you could get origins/odyssey/valhalla for like $10-15

https://store.steampowered.com/app/2208920/Assassins_Creed_Valhalla/
https://store.steampowered.com/app/812140/Assassins_Creed_Odyssey/
https://store.steampowered.com/app/582160/Assassins_Creed_Origins/

and then get shadows if you like the gameplay of the other three down the line when the price drops

It's tricky, because there is an arcing story being told in Assassin's Creed, which might be hard to explain to someone who hasn't at least played the first game before. I imagine things might be very confusing when you Suddenly awake from the Animus.

I won't gate keep though. If you want this to be your first, by all means go for it. Maybe you can visit the older titles if this game interests you.

+1 for Valhalla. It's a long long game, and even longer with all the DLC expansion maps and stories, but one of my all time favorites. I love Valhalla more than Odyssey and Origins combined.

This is the most advanced Creed game, technologically.

Visually, it's the best-looking Creed game ever designed. It will also win the most awards, come December. Best Action/Adventure and Best Audio Design for starters.

It also has a sniper's chance at winning Game of the Year.

Without question, you should start with this game and work your way backwards. You may burn out before you get to Valhalla, Odyssey, or Origins. This is not a situation where you want to save the best for last. Shadows is as good as it gets.

Just make sure that you have a computer that is powerful enough to run it.

Shadows, Valhalla, Odyssey, and Origins are the four horsemen of the apocalypse that you should begin your adventure with.

In that order.

Start with AC2 to get the real AC experience. Shadows and every game since Origins are not really AC games at all (Although Origins and Odyssey are fantastic in their own right for the setting only)

Edit: After that if you like them Id do Black Flag (AC4). Personally I really like AC3/Rogue but a lot of people didnt - Unity is also a decent option if its $5 or less

AC2 definitely hit all the right places when I played way back when.
Most likely you'll be fine. Each one is a self-contained story except for the modern day stuff. So you might be a little lost on what's going on outside the Animus (the thing that lets modern-day people experience the lives of people in the past), but you'll be fine experiencing Naoe's and Yasuke's story.

You could always give Origins a go and see how you like that one.

Man that entire trilogy slapped - I think I remember it more than all the other games combined, although weirdly enough I remember Rogue and Origins just as much as the AC2 Trilogy even though Black Flag is better than both of those. Probably just the setting i guess
