Will it be GOTY? No. Monster Hunter's record is unbelievably high. Something not seen since Baldur's Gate 3.
Edit: They also have revenue from Ubisoft+ that they have since shadows is included with that, but it technically doesnt count as a unit sale, but im sure they can lump some of that in with trying to recoup the development costs. Also they have a discount running on shadows as a unit sale on connect atm as well as discounts on Ubisoft+ for at least Xbox afaik
Long-term goal: Smash Valhalla's records.
It'll break Valhalla's record of 20 million copies.
But it'll take the entirety of 2025 to do it.
AC Fanbase has been waiting for a full flagship entry since AC Valhalla as Mirage was not flagship game but Shadows is and considering it's developed by Quebec which not mention made AC Odyssey who got nominated for 2018 GOTY
I have good hopes Shadows will do very well
but I still hope Shadows does pretty well
They'll suffer for it.
Different time period, different circumstances, a lot has changed for Ubisoft in past few years.
They will be very lucky to break even, but i don't think that will happen. It's very much an upill battle for them.
At it's current rate of sale it's already been projected to sell at least 6 million copies within it's first 30 days. That's a very successful launch of a video game when the franchise typically releases right before the holidays and banks on those sales.
