Zero surprises there.
The sheer amount of game leaking, or insider info leaking, or trailers and builds leaking, or games being sold earlier then they should be, or reviews leaking early.
At the Game Awards Geoff even made that joke about how the reveal of Borderlands 4 was successfully NOT leaked like it was an achievement
Games are getting bigger and bigger, hundreds of developers working over the course of half a decade. Containing stuff like that is almost impossible, it just takes one person.
The games being sold early has always been the issue, people who work at these stores stealing copies so that they can get their moment of fame.
That is just the way it is. Baldur's Gate 3 was digital only and there was nothing leaked before it came out, it had ACT 2 playtesting a year before it released and nothing came out, I have no clue how Larian managed to do that, I was for sure expecting leaks as soon as that happened.
Well, it's at least going to be better then Mirage, which means it will be better then Avatar, and especially Star Wars Outlaws. So there's that.
And so the cope begins
You also see positive reviews for good and well praised games as well.
I generally wait until Shinobi or Wario64 post the big cluster of reviews scores on twitter and use those as the reviews.
Every time I think about seeing what independent or content creators do, it feels like every single time there's just new ones i ain't ever heard of.
"Oh listen to the review from Smash Talks. This was reviewed by RetroDweeb. Did you see the one from Super NintenJoe6? I always listen to Saturn Sam Reviews."
And there's so many, that the reviews just go all over the place.
Some people will absolutely praise the game, others will say it's the worst thing that's ever existed and it has ruined their marriage.
You ever noticed that they ignore the games they hyped up that didn't do well?
Remember how they were hyping Rise of the Ronin on PC? It's sitting at a 50% on steam and had like a peak player count of 12k
Or you have them hyping up that Yasuke Simulator when the demo only has a peak and I'm not joking, of 27
