I Don't Understand, Why Is This Game Controversial?

Can someone explain to me why this game is so controversial? It seems a bit unfair and biased, but maybe I am wrong. Can someone make this make sense?

I think people just take issue with how the game is being marketed, Personally I wanted to play as a Shinobi this time around, thats what was being hinted at early on in development, then they decided to just pull one of the most abstract characters from history that they definitely took some creative liberties with, I'm sorry but in no shape or form would you see a Giant Black Samurai in the Azuchi-Momoyama period, even carrying a sword would have been extremely restrictive let alone seeing a Black man wielding it, and if you want more proof of what people were getting mad about, then there is Yasuke's sexual orientation, he's gay, and its fine to be gay, whats not fine is to use it as a means to add diversity into a game. And you can argue all you want, this is exactly what they had intended.

And then we have Naoe, and yes people have taken some issue with this character as well, a Female Shinobi isn't typically something you would have seen in that time period, maybe her story will address this, but there were kunoichi's which might have made more sense, again maybe her story will explain some things but honestly it felt like a one two punch with catering to the masses that probably won't even play the game.

What they probably should have done was Put Yasuke in his own game, give us the Japan Assassin Creed with even Naoe, that would at least be disgestable, going back to the assassin roots where its more about stealth then just face tanking everything with brute force gameplay, if they had done that then the game probably would have been met with more positive reception. And lets be honest here, Ubisoft has been having a very clear agenda when it comes to Diversity or DEI situations, just look at the last few years of game releases, they are not doing well, I mean they are on the market to be sold so that should tell you everything. It falls under the whole thing about trying to appease those who will not even buy your games. And they aren't alone I'm seeing many game companies falling under this trend and suffering for it. Hopefully when they see how much sales were effected they can take a lesson from this.

It doesn't make sense, does it? They come here to post because they.. dislike the game? Why would anyone do that if they weren't feeling some sort of way?

Edit: To the last post, Yasuke isn't straight or gay; you make the choice for romance options. If he sleeps with men, it's because you chose that option.

As for recent releases not doing well, it has nothing to do with the things you said. Keep pushing that agenda though, those lies won't come up with themselves.
