Shoes disappear in houses
This is one of those things that sounds dumb on paper and looks even dumber in practice. If you are a shinobi running around assassinating people why would you take the time to take off your shoes? It also just looks dumb. You enter a house and your shoes just instantly disappear? Why? The same person greenlit this, not giving Naoe a bow or gun, and not letting Naoe dismember enemies.

Make less noise, maybe they should add an animation when shoes are removed.

That might help. It is a bit jarring and seems unnecessary.
Won't even notice it.

I'll be looking straight ahead, to the sides, and up.

Murder, death, kill. That's the only thing that'll be on my mind.

Not shoes.

37 days.

I care so much about details and never noticed this ..
But I was probably so much distracted by indoor low quality like the floating props, walls, doors, bad tatamis or .. NO SHADOWS which is extremely game breaking for me
But I saw quite a lot of sneaking indoor and Naoe always had shoes .. so if there is something like this, guess it depends on location?
I can understand like removing a helmet during conversations, but shoes just because you enter a certain house when pass an invisible barrier .. thats lame

I do not see any other logical explanation for the shoes, but if they don't serve any purpose, Ubisoft needs to put them back into the characters...
Then again as many people say, Ubisoft is well known for glitches on release date.
Hope this game will be more polished than other Ubisoft games, but who knows...
the reason is that in japanese culture it is considered disprespectful to not take your shoes off when entering someone's home. they are trying to appease the culture-war police who are nitpicking every little thing they see and turning it into a hate crime.

looolll That's bending the knee then, like is cool to chop heads off, but god forbid the killer to enter with the shoes inside a house they about to massacre everyone.

Crazy how much people claim to care about historical accuracy and don't understand the significance of shoes indoors.
they are trying to respect the culture, but it seems kind of pointless at this point. the only way they could make this game not be perceived as disrespectful to japanese people would be if they fired their entire development and art team, and started from scratch to make a japanese tea ceremony simulator developed entirely by japanese historians. and then the anti-woke crowd would cry about that, saying it is DEI because they put white people out of jobs in favor of "diversity hires". the people who are upset are upset because they want to be upset, appeasing them is silly and pointless. the core audience who buy this game are not paying any attention to the drama, and it's success is going to be based on whether or not it is fun to play, not whether or not some right-wing conservative blogger has an issue with the historical accuracy of the watermelons or the shoes. the game's primary sales are going to be on consoles anyways, and console gamers tend to be casuals who dont follow gamer news and trends. this is all just stupid noise.
game fun = people like
game not fun = people dont like
everything else is noise and distraction
Take off your shoes in a house to show him respect when you are about to assassinate the person? What kind of conclusion is this? Maybe Take off your shoes to cover your muddy shoe print?

You take off your shoes indoors because it's what you do in Japan. Period. Whether you're there to assassinate someone or you're going into a house, NOBODY would keep their shoes on. The fact that this has to be explained to you shows how little you understand.

Personally I don't care either way but it shows how little people know about Japan that claim to want this to be accurate.
Deleted my comment by accident, but in conclusion:
keep the shoes on, AC was never a realistic game series.

And yes, shoes on or off are not deal breakers for people. It's other issues. lol
It's crazy how people go out of their way to nitpick even the tiniest details just to have something to complain about.

Thats not just Japanese customs ..
This is more or less very common thing to do almost everywhere in the world in developed countries, there are few exceptions
