What do you all think about this?

I personally don't see the point from a customer point of view

im not sure what the point of it is myself
my HOPE is that it will act as the modern day story line in the games going forward, not just some game launcher program.

They says it's not a launcher, it's integrated among Assassin's creed shadow, and you can launch the others assassin's creed titles if they are installed on your machine and owned on your Ubisoft account.

That sounds like a launcher to me

yah i am confused by what it is as well. guess we'll find out in a couple of months. i hope it's not just another launcher tho. i have enough launchers on my damn pc XD
BAHAHAHAHAHA Ubisoft has not been learning.... People gonna HATE on this BIG TIME.
We dont want F game launchers... others a removing them but Ubi is adding them.

Sounds like a launcher to me, only its built into to game !!!

"THE HUB IS NOT A STAND-ALONE LAUNCHER.
The Animus Hub is fully integrated into Assassin's Creed Shadows; it is not a stand-alone launcher and there are currently no plans to make it stand-alone."

I don't know what to think about this, I am more interested in playing the game so likely wont mean anything to me. BUT it will give the haters something to hate on.
Ubisoft know's this is why they put that on their website.

So may be they try to put something more in place to prevent piracy?

i think it's just an attempt to completely remove the modern day story from the actual historical animus sessions, instead of pulling you out of the animus at hard chapter points like they been doing pre-mirage. like it is literally just the main menu of the game, it's a nothingburger.
yer I know... I am not upset but the haters will be and we all know the trolls love an opportunity to cause chaos in these forums.

Who knows it could actually be a good thing
I've watched a gameplay without commentaries exactly because i wanted to see the game from my perspective, but it was lacking in a few aspects, now with this, I had mixed feelings.

The modern backstory was interesting to me only in the first trilogy, but afterwards it wasn't that good in Black Flag, Odyseey, etc.

I'd rather have a good main story based on real facts, than following a half-assed mix of side story in "modern life" in game, but from what I saw in the new gameplay, the story was quite poorly writen and completely non-sense, unless you don't care about history.

I think the conversation is about completely different topic than the futuristic side of the game :) Animus hub is "launcher" for the game. Not the animus in the game that works like VR NerveGear :)
But I agree ..
I wouldnt mind an option in the setting to skip all the animus "real" gameplay, never liked it in any kind of AC game and always skipped it and went back to playing the historic part of the game.

I agree, I think the animus's story is dead with Desmond Miles, as much as I liked it, but I really enjoyed the titles that came after

its like that helix main menu game mockup back in AC Unity, and very similar in function to the Call of Duty HQ so I really like it tbh

Wish it was for all the AC games tho like including the older titles so they could easily be launched without needing to exit the game

If you are one of those persons, like me, that like to have a more or less accurate playtime record on Steam, the problem of a Hub launcher inside a game, as seen in Call of Duty, is that if you, for example, launch AC Valhalla from the Hub inside AC Shadows, the hours played will be added in Steam to Shadows, not to Valhalla. So I never will launch another Assassins Creed from that Hub.

Very good point... I have stopped purchasing games on other platforms because I like all my hours and achievements in one place. So yeah this built in launcher will also be useless to me.
