denuvo makes sense, prevents or delays piracy during most important sales period, but the always online drm sounds more like a thing for controlling the user and analytics, telemetry etc
JorRaptor on UCP: "Do we need the Ubisoft launcher if we buy the game on Steam?"
Ubisoft Connect Team: Launching the game through Steam doesn't require you to download and install the Ubisoft Connect Launcher, as the Steam installation already includes a lite embedded version of it. You simply need to link your Ubisoft Connect account to Steam.
As Assassin's Creed Shadows comes with cross-save and cross-progression features, linking your Ubisoft Connect account allows us to provide you with a seamless experience no matter where you play. Through Ubisoft Connect, you will also be part of our global loyalty program to unlock rewards and exclusive discounts, including on pre-orders and new releases.
That's my two cents. Ubisoft will probably keep treating paying customers poorly regardless, and Ubisoft won't be seeing much of my money in the future either. I'm mostly posting in case anyone at Ubisoft ever reads this stuff, because I'm getting pretty tired of this nonsense that's way too common and becoming even more so.
It used to not be so bad for me being the happy consumer buying even limited edition console and handhelds just because I wanted to support the games I loved and then love is lost.
No idea what I read that gave me that impression...
That was a blanket statement. certainly Ubiconnect isn't the worst offender, not like the square enix account system for ffXIV or the mihoyo accounts, but even once a month or two is just too much now. I lost all patience.
AC: Black Flag requires you to manually log in every time you try to play, it's really annoying.
