according to gameplay reviews, the game isnt bad. its not the best stealth game out there and doesnt look like AC game, which is why i wont play it, but it still got the title AC.

There are no sources to confirm the sell .. ubisoft is silent.
So every message out there about sell, obviously a lie.

They need to lower the price to 40 EUR ..
The game was designed to keep people in and make them spend money INSIDE the game .. having high price tag is just hurting business.

Hell, even D4 was so bad that they made only 150 millions in 17 months.

I was actually, yes. Still a great game either way.
I found a lot of enjoyment in games that sold poorly and no enjoyment from games that sold well. Of course, the opposite has been true a lot, too.

Sales? Whatevs.

I also eventually stopped comparing things just because they have the same name. I find enjoyment in more things by taking each thing on its own, each thing new to me rather than what's different this time. For me, only direct sequels get any comparisons by being a continuation of the prior.

Really? Didn't notice it. Although I haven't had time to play with it in the past week or so.
It's not selling well, they're not even recouping their costs. Give it a rest.
#1 the past three weeks. Such fail.

do you have access to their financials ?
their sales are doing very well. did they make a profit i dont know. doesnt really matter, it will stay on steam, on the consoles and on their own service for a long time and at some point become profitable. the other games in the series are still sellling. i bought most of them in a sale a while back.

point is, they play the long game.

Board members don't like playing the long game, investors do so long as the the expected yield is met which was not and we know it wasn't by all of the correspondence from the dev team, and very obvious by the movement of it's shares. So it doesn't matter what it makes 10 years from now the expectation was not met and the expected return on investment within the foretasted time line was also not met. And while it may have been a mediocre game or even somewhat above average it was no where near enough to stave off the impending issues the company was facing and thus here we are with Tencent and the shuttering of parts of the company as it restructures.

Touting Second best selling game of the year when almost nothing has been released so far aside from Wilds, which outsold it by a landslide and KCD2 which was a huge success that turned a major profit and sold almost as well as shadows with 1/6th of the development cost. Second, of course its going to be the best selling game for 3 weeks when nothing else has been released to give it any competition. The only thing of note since has been schedule 1 which also has outsold it by a landslide selling close to 5 million copies on just steam. Listing the amount of players or copies sold a game has when you don't factor in development costs is useless if your trying to argue that it was a success. Even if they some how manage to break even, they just wasted 4 years of development time that could have been spent on something successful which is a massive failure in itself.

Can it really be considered selling well when it wasn't even enough to turn a profit?

No they dont, if it was a success they wouldnt have let Tencent grab 25% of their shares in the IPs they want for 1.25 billion to pay off debt. Tencent saved them from going extinct, if Tencent didnt get involved Ubisoft would have been history. Can you cope any harder ? ;P
Its a good game, im having fun. I think it was too expensive for any single player game. Its not elden ring or anything but its been keeping me busy for now. Once I finish the main quests and side missions I will probably be ready for nightreign.

With that said the AC ip hasn't really had me this hooked since Odyssey. I'm pretty sure even the older AC games didn't keep me playing for over 100 hours. I'm not surprised it sold well, it's a known IP even if the IP has been going downhill for a while probably from just too many games within the same IP. And even within the context of the IP it's one of the better ones.

Lastly you guys that want to game to fail because black man is samurai , stop letting influencers melt your brain. Criticize the game for its actual issues. Not because you're a bigot.
