Possible to play offline?
Like the title says: I live in a rural area where my internet tends to cut in and out, and is often just down for half the day during network congestion. I like playing large, open-world single-player games like Assassins Creed, but lately it's been hard with their forced always-online stuff. Is this game able to be played offline, or will it just waste my time and money? It's already 70 dollars, so I do expect a ninja to hand-deliver a copy to my house for that price...

You can play the game offline.
Online is required when you buying and activating game, and for periodical authentication of the game.

Second guy got it right.

Online activation is required (installation and first boot), but you don't need to always be online in order to play.

That's... not even an option for me lol
Well I suppose I'll pass on this game. My internet is REALLY bad, I just managed to get on to check this today after posting it!

so, is the game not fully support run on offline mode? i want to buy it but heck this is $70 game, pretty much you can buy another game GPU for this game but as you know Ubisoft motto "Player need to know they don't own game" that they terminate and delete game from existence

If your internet is so bad that you can't even get online for a split second and super low speeds for a quick authentication check, how on earth did you plan on buying and then downloading a 102.614 GB game?

Also, Ubisoft literally never said this. Context is important. They were asked by investors what it would take to move everything to live service and subscription models, and the answer was that players would need to get comfortable with not owning their games.

They weren't saying that in general, they were saying that such a thing would be required for streaming/subscription to work as a primary income strategy. Which, given they're still primarily selling on consoles and Steam, it's clear they don't actually consider that as reasonable.

welcome to 2025
Hmm, the other day I was without internet and I tried the "play offlinw" option and it just kept going nowhere. So, I threw in the towel for the night. I don't see how to actually play it offline.
