I do have to say the open world is absolutely stunning, it was winter and it was amazing.
I still find it a shame how there are no other activities in the game you can do after completing all the achievements which took me like 120 hours.
I mean I was kind of expecting that after all the people whining about how big Valhalla was but I honestly didnt expect they make it that short.
You must be new to the franchise. The recent entires have gotten years worth of DLC. This isnt going to be any different.
Bro, read the room. Jeez.
1/ Ofc NG+ and new DLCs (areas/plots)
2/ A higher difficulty (rename Expert to Hard) they need to boost AI more depending on
the difficulty :
- Increase the AI radius to see you from distance especially on day time (reduce this
radius on foggy, rainy or snowy time...)
- Increase AI radius a little more to hear the sound you make same depends on the
weathers
- AI should block/parry/dodge more your attacks like sometimes even in Expert they
stay still and do nothing, ofc players will be mad that the game is easy at least make the regular mobs block more on higher difficulty.
3/ More QoL (Quality of Life) changes there is a lot of them (like the all stats screen and
damage number on enemies and cue when you do a Crit Hit, Sell multiple items at the
same time, Give Yasuke the ability to Knock Out like Naoe we need this if we want to
KO Servant in Castles and for the day/night time skip that a lot of ppl ask for i want it to
be limited to 2 per season or the game will be too easy if we just keep doing
restricted areas at night imo with those perks that gives big bonuses at night...
create a topic/poll to see which one to prioritize first
4/ They need to add a normal Zone Attack for every weapon (light+heavy att input, if you played For Honor you will know what im talking about) and also with bare hands cus there is a lot of perks that give bonuses on hiting multiple enemies and i dont want to be forced to play Kusarigama (dmg should be nerfed especially the ranged ones that use the heavy iron weight Fundo cus it makes the game easy) or Naginata to trigger these perks, speaking of perks we need those Shinobi/Samurai abilities to be done without weapon equiped so we add more challenge if we want to do a bare hands run and ofc there is a perks that gives you +150% stats with no weapon equiped just make the bare hands light attack faster cus its the same as heavy att and its too slow...
5/ For the Hide Out Can we have an Alchemy Station where we can create Potions that gives bonuses for short time (around 1min or less depending on the bonus given without making them too OP, limited to 1 use need to be refilled like the tool/ration and a total of 2 that can be used at the same time.
6/ Add a Random Event which make the Bandits/Outlaws attack your HideOut and you should get back to the Hide Out to defend it with your allies ofc, these Bandit/OutLaw will try to steal/destroy your stations and you need to stop them to do so if not you will lose some of the resources and you station can be damaged i would like to add a feature if you one of your station is damaged below 50% the bonuses that give you will disapear until you repair the with the hide out resources again we know that these resources become useless when you max out your Hide Out...
7/ And Ofc a Co-op Mode per region if possible or a huge map with some good objectives like contacting a spy/scout or kill a target without being detected, protecting someone to reach his destination... same make a topic and let the players give there thought or what they want for co-op... (We all know that Multiplayer/Coop keep games alive)
Players can give more of their thoughts to make the game even better, Ubi just need to hear what the players want...
Edit: I forgot something important for those who want to seek more challenge and play without weapons equipped, add a passive skill in the shinobi/samurai tree to be able to deflect/parry with your Kote (Forearm armor) :D
Well the only thing that really felt like propper exploration was to find all of the 69 Jizou statues but that was kinda my own fault cause you could just go to your Kakurega to find the locations of these Jizou statues within the oportunities but the mistake I did was I once didnt pay attention when I was riding by some of these statues and once uncovered on the map they dont tell you where to find them anymore, you just have to find them yourself and that was actually painfull cause these map icons dont show up when you are completely zoomed out on the map, you need to zoom in and then its absolutely impossible to navigate the map in a reasonable manner.
I liked Valhalla too, but to me, it was a little bit disappointing.
What I was looking for was a stealth game like Metal Gear, not an action RPG.
Odyssey was the same. Enemies could detect me even in the dark cave, and on higher difficulties, even regular mobs wouldn’t go down with a single hide-attack.
Because of things like that, I started to feel like this series was becoming more of an action RPG. I still enjoyed the game, but I was a bit let down.
But Shadows finally bringing back the stealth gameplay in a really cool way, and I’m happy about that.
If The MGSV:PP is the best modern-era stealth game, then I think Shadows is the best one set in the past.
at first I want to say Odyssey was really good and i had no problem to stealth an outpost at night. I mean obviously its not a good idea to try stealth at day but once I figurted that out I had no problem with it and well it got that RPG system so you shouldnt expect to be the best at everything right at the beginning, same goes for Valhalla and you absolutely can stealth in Valhalla but the thing that kind of bothers me in Shadows is quite the oposite.
So you have this kinda cool combat with Naoe (I didnt play Yasuke very much) I mean its not hard, you just equip a Katana and skill to parry red attacks, then you just parry enemies, they get vulnerable, you hit them two times with max crit damage and they are gone, its really cool and satisfying but then you can also stealth them and once you stealth kill an Samurai Daishou with your hidden blade thats just not satisfying anymore. I mean sure, hidden blade kills are still kinda satisfying its just killing a Samurai Daishou does not feel diferent to killing a normal enemy if you kill him with the hidden blade. There should be enemies in the game you cant just stealth kill with one stab of your hidden blade, thats at least my opinion.
You're right. As you level up your skills and get better gear, the difficulty in Shadows drops off significantly.
The addition of crouching and hiding in darkness definitely deepens the stealth system, but the enemy AI is still as dumb as ever, and their HP doesn't scale much later on.
So even if you don’t go stealthy, a high-level Naoe can just run in and wipe everyone out, which is a bit disappointing.
I kind of forced myself to ignore that and built my entire skill and perk setup around stealth, so it felt a bit better that way.
I think there should be more elite enemies placed in the later stages of the game.
There's even a guy with a hand cannon in the story, but it’s a shame you never really encounter enemies like that in regular situation.
My biggest regret in my first playthrough was turning on the Guaranteed Assassination option. It was fun at first, but it completely removed the need to think strategically.
I turned it off around the middle of the game, but by then I was already so overpowered that it didn’t make much of a difference.
I’m planning to do a second playthrough with that option turned off, and I’m also planning to avoid using the katana — it just makes things tooooo easy.
The stealth system has definitely improved, so I just hope they tweak the enemy AI and overall balance a bit more.
The open world is pretty but doesn't really look like Japan.
