Gamers are the most impatient humans on the planet.
In a game of this size, it's very easy to kill 24 minutes.
I'm 126 hours into the game.
And for an AC, Shadows is quite ugly by night, others recent was looking better.
How it come about a patient?
1. Sleep make game more immersive while it have a house to buy ,base to build.
2. I just want to enjoy a view and explore by days. it quite beautiful than darkness.
So having timed missions and not having a feature to skip time is .. weird. Step back.
Wait, there's one, banned,, bye.
Even worse: some missions are time dependent, i.e. only available at night or only during the day (including some side activities like sumi-e!) and a game should NEVER waste your time and force you to wait or do things you'd rather not do, just to pass the time until you can do what you actually want to do.
So use the Cheat Engine table (if you are on PC) and you get the skip time function this game sorely needs.
Now if only we could freely change seasons as well... at least once the story concludes... missions that are only available in certain seasons are a lousy idea (sumi-e as well). I suppose a mod or so will eventually take care of that as well.
I do understand the basic reasoning, since stealth is different in this game and since you get great benefits at night they didn't want players to enter easy stealth mode all the time by meditating... but the downsides of a lack of a skip time function weigh much more heavily.
I suppose they will eventually add this functionality via a patch, and if not, Cheat Engine it is.
Irrelevant? I think it's relevant and what's lead to this "regression".
So in reality, the only thing this design decision achieves is it makes this feature irrelevant, and whatever effort went into creating it wasted. Who's going to use gear like "+2 segments for assassinations at night", if it's unreliable like that? Let alone when you can get an unconditional +2 later on.
Another point they made is they wanted players to have unique experiences from doing missions during different seasons. However, in practice, this is worthless - the impact of seasons on level design is minimal and never plays a decisive role in influencing your strategy.
What I'm trying to say is even if Ubisoft gave us the option to have nighttime all the time - that still wouldn't be overpowered. And would actually be considered a QoL change as it would mean people no longer have to resort to Cheat Engine to address this.
