especially when you include quests that have to be done at night
And the game should have a player option to ignore night & day for stealth, so annoying.
I can see a consumable item that skips 1h per use implemented.

Come to think of it, a trinket that increases nighttime duration would be appreciated, I'd run that on Naoe.
It's only a 24-minute wait.

Gamers are the most impatient humans on the planet.

In a game of this size, it's very easy to kill 24 minutes.

I'm 126 hours into the game.

You don't get the point, which is not play 24mn by night, not play half time by night.

And for an AC, Shadows is quite ugly by night, others recent was looking better.

How it come about a patient?
1. Sleep make game more immersive while it have a house to buy ,base to build.
2. I just want to enjoy a view and explore by days. it quite beautiful than darkness.

Previous games had a feature to skip time and there were no timed missions ..
So having timed missions and not having a feature to skip time is .. weird. Step back.

I wish there was a skip trolls polluters feature as well.

Wait, there's one, banned,, bye.
My recommendation, download the Cheat Engine table that has a "fast forward / rewind" time feature that works via keyboard shortcut in the game. I never, EVER, want to free roam in games at night, I hate it with a passion. They create this beautiful open world and force me to play at nighttime where everything is grey and dull? Why?

Even worse: some missions are time dependent, i.e. only available at night or only during the day (including some side activities like sumi-e!) and a game should NEVER waste your time and force you to wait or do things you'd rather not do, just to pass the time until you can do what you actually want to do.

So use the Cheat Engine table (if you are on PC) and you get the skip time function this game sorely needs.
Now if only we could freely change seasons as well... at least once the story concludes... missions that are only available in certain seasons are a lousy idea (sumi-e as well). I suppose a mod or so will eventually take care of that as well.

I do understand the basic reasoning, since stealth is different in this game and since you get great benefits at night they didn't want players to enter easy stealth mode all the time by meditating... but the downsides of a lack of a skip time function weigh much more heavily.

I suppose they will eventually add this functionality via a patch, and if not, Cheat Engine it is.

As far I know other AC mostly RPG hadn't stealth doable only by night, it seems Shadows wanted honor its name, and then make night important, alas it's hardly any entertainement value increase or for a tiny amount of stealth lover enjoying some "realism" aspects.

Irrelevant? I think it's relevant and what's lead to this "regression".

So before the game came out, I read some articles saying "Naoe is very powerful at night" and so that's kinda the entire reason we can't switch the cycle at will. But thing is, Naoe does not need shadows to be powerful. Beyond perhaps early game, they're at best a "win more" thing for her. Why do you need shadows, when you can end combat on demand, slow time and do all those other shenanigans. Whatever benefit shadows bring you is utterly dwarfed by simple kunai to the head, that is available early and keeps being equally valuable throughout the game.

So in reality, the only thing this design decision achieves is it makes this feature irrelevant, and whatever effort went into creating it wasted. Who's going to use gear like "+2 segments for assassinations at night", if it's unreliable like that? Let alone when you can get an unconditional +2 later on.

Another point they made is they wanted players to have unique experiences from doing missions during different seasons. However, in practice, this is worthless - the impact of seasons on level design is minimal and never plays a decisive role in influencing your strategy.

What I'm trying to say is even if Ubisoft gave us the option to have nighttime all the time - that still wouldn't be overpowered. And would actually be considered a QoL change as it would mean people no longer have to resort to Cheat Engine to address this.
