What to do after defeating Shunbakufu?
So there is this circle of targets in the middle, I have defeated everyone there after 40+ hours.
What now? I play on PS5.

Complete other side quests?

Ask on the PS5 forums.

Do the personal quests for Yasuke and Naoe and also the Junjiro quests.
Or wait for DLC / the patch that brings NG+ ;-) How much side content do you have left? There is no true endgame in Shadows, once all is said and done all is said and done and free roam for free roam's sake makes little sense, unless you want to loot that one weapon with a specific engraving you have not found yet.
Explore every inch, rock, and leaf. Stare at them for hrs

Get all the pets for the hideout and pet them all

Away from joking (was still most important)
Like others say do personals quests for Yasuke Naoe and Junjiro. You will like the rewards too that come along like hideout cosmetics, skills and gear. Also make sure to get the other allies.

I also recommend doing Yasuke samurai board as the Katana you get is awesome and so is its ending.
At 87 hours still not through Act 2 because I'm clearing icons and side quests D:

It's times like this I realise how completionist I can be....

Yeah I know what you mean, every time I think I'm making progress a new circle of people I have to assassinate pops up and I'm sidetracked from the main quest again ...... Naoe's Kusarigama is just so much fun to master. Between long distance assassination with the Kusarigama and the assassinate second guy with a Kunai engraving I'm just clearing areas without breaking a sweat. It's the most assassin type combat in an AC game for quite some time, maybe the best of the series since it has none of the wonkiness of the old games with the pull a trigger to run nonsense, Triggers are for weapons not movement

the only miss-able content are messing up the ally dialogue choices so you can rush the story if you want. This is not Baldurs Gate 3 so do not worry.

This is the way.
play a different game 40 plus hours is good. Its like beating a resident evil game 4 times lol
Whatever you want. I'll be building out my village and fine tuning it indefinitely. If such doesn't appeal to you, it may be time to call this game complete and pick up a new one.

Complete the story? Yasuke and Naoe both have stories to wrap up and you'll reach the credits screen. Then you can say adios to the game and go back to something better like Odyssey or Valhalla.

40 hours and you completed the story? (Shunbakufu)

There are so many good side-quests :D i finished 4 or 5 from Shunbakufu after 35hours.
Exploring and side-quests are fun! (not all... but for me most of them)
