Warning Message when starting a new game
I wish there was a warning message when starting a new game that says "You can't access your old game save after starting a new game" because i deleted my 90hrs game save after i started a new game. Thought i can have multiple like in Origins or Valhalla.

Yeah that does seem like a warning that would exist in any game that only has 1 save file doesn't it? I mean Nintendo was able to figure that out for their first pokemon game in 1996 but it just must have been too hard for modern day Ubisoft.

There's no warning because this isn't true. You can manually Save the game and create multiple Saves if you want. I've gone back to a previous game play-through myself. It's not a limitation.

It sounds like maybe you've only been relying on Autosaves if you think this game only has one save file.

Still pretty shoddy design. Most modern games will realize you are starting a new game and won't over write auto saves from another playthrough even if a manual save was never made. This is especially true for games where a player could reasonably play the whole thing without ever needing to manually save once like what seems to be the case in this game.

I started a new game because I wanted to play the whole game just as Naoe and then as Yasuke but now I can't access my 90hr save because starting a new game seems to delete all your other game saves. Always saved manually before exiting the game but now i really have to play it all over again.

Tegridy is here to shoot down anything positive that you have to say, so there's no point in arguing about gamers and their save file competency.

The first thing that gamers do when they F-up is blame the developer. It's a reflex action for not wanted to take responsibility for their actions.

Gamers are, after all, the smartest creatures on the planet.

Move along. Nothing to be seen here.

When you were saving were you over writing the same file with each new save or were you creating new saves? Did you overwrite your old playthrough by saving your new playthrough ontop of it?

Sounds like a whole lot of projection here since i'm not even the one who made a mistake or got caught up in this situation so why would i feel the need to avoid responsibility? I'm simply commenting on it and trying to figure out what happened.

I was overwriting my save file so I only have one but that save file got deleted when i started a new game. Maybe my only save file got overwritten when I started a new game. That is now an issue of the past sadly.

Can you post a screenshot of what your game's UI looks like when you go to load a save?

No idea how I do that, never used discussions before.

Nonsense, autosaves in AC games are limited to 5 and then they get overwritten and are mainly there in case you get killed. The smart way is every time you quit out of the game make a hard save overwriting your previous hard save. That way when you run into a bug you can go back to the hard save you made a few hours earlier rather than having to start the game over again because all the autosave were written over and only go back a few minutes.

Never needed to post a screenshot on steam forums myself but from what i have seen from others you have to post it on a 3rd party site like photobucket then link to that.

Ok that's great and all but can you explain how this design isn't bad when other studios have clearly shown this system can be handled better? I can't remember the last game i played that came from the last 5 years that won't switch you too a new save profile when you start a new game instead of overwriting files from another play through. Also i find it funny that you are so used to Ubisoft games having game breaking bugs that you have internalized the strategy of having backup manual saves so that you can prevent your game from being unplayable. I have a strategy for that too; it's called not buying games from developers who release broken :rePoop:

having only the autosave and starting a new game is clearly your fault...if a game has profiles its another thing...its not a good choice from the developer but it is what it is...now you know better.

It's so uncommon for modern games not to have save profiles that's why i wanted to see the screenshot of the game's UI. To see if there was 1 and OP was just missing it. I'm also not trying to argue that there isn't a certain degree of user error on OP's part. Just that this wouldn't be an issue on a game with developers that actually understood how to create a more user error proof save UI. Plenty of other studios have figured it out. Also no need for that screenshot anymore OP.
