There sure as hell is. There are such people, i don't deny that.
Like i said, I personally don't have trouble with Yasuke in the game. The discussion wether or not he was the samurai is an entirely different matter and not related to our topic.
Its just that... This story HAS potential. They could ve used this premise A LOT better. Instead they instatly forget that they have quite interesting story on their hands and go "REVENGE FOR MY MASTER" route from the start.
And thats the point, such story could be applied to literally any other person in the world. They fumbled the bag hard in this department.
Yasuke COULD BE historically accurate and COULD HAVE unique story. This 2 things dont contradict eachother in the slightest. But ubisoft be Ubisoft and forget about Yasuke unique case the moment prologue ends.
But like i said, I MIGHT BE WRONG on him not struggling and Ubisoft not doing anything about his character. Maybe there are some quests where Yasuke nationality comes up, i don't know. Thats why i asked for examples. Not to be an asshat or anything, I GENUINELY cant remember the case for that. Its not hard to prove me wrong here.
Same goes for Naoe actually, except word "master" changes to "father", but im too dumb to come up with the better premise for her, so i usually dont bring this up.
We wouldn't be having this conversation if woke didn't exist either.
And not for a lack of black protagonists.
You can't even settle on a common definition of woke don't act like this life has been forced on you.
Literally forced by power plays. Laws, company policies, censorship.
You don't have to concede all definitions are right, one would do. Yet we all know you'd never do that so what's the point of arguing about it.
lmfao "I deny Yasuke existed because of laws and company policies. I'm literally forced in to it!!!"
I don't deny his existence, I deny the devs' supposed motives for his existence in Shadows.
I never cared about skin color. I remember when I was little and people started talking about racism. I was like, wtf? Then people started calling people black and I'm like that's not really a "skin color". I thought we were past old TV. The terminology is extremely outdated.
I feel the same way, but after seeing Ghost of Yotei, I rather a game where the main protagonist is a Black man. Naoe and the Protagonist of Ghost of Yotei have the exact same story and presentation, down to the masks and secret ring you have to hunt down.
Now this genre seems generic. Japanese woman, revenge for daddy, and I am babysitting them. I don't need my visage tacked on to a game because the producers can't think of more original plots and just want to profit off of Weebs and Japanophiles.
Ubisoft could have had Yasuke lose his wife. Seek revenge, they could have had Yasuke delivering Nobunaga's head to his family or protecting it. They could have had Yasuke recruited by another agency to defend against European forces trying to undermine Japan. If I can think up more ideas so could they.
Now Shadows and Yotei are going to seem like generic offerings. Samurai daddy issues. I don't care about the goofy racist, they don't matter, most of them don't buy games. If your story is so easily replicated that your competitor makes it by mistake, go back to the drawing board, just don't say "Add a Black man".
Ubisoft's lack of imagination missed a boat that for some reason I am curious as to why they watched sail away. I saw streamers literally stop playing the game cause they got tired for playing as Naoe. They had been told for months, Yasuke, Yasuke, Yasuke. Now hours into it they got Naoe and a plot anybody could see coming.
I also don't have much faith in many other developers Eastern or Western. My last hope will be Dinga Bakaba and Arkane Lyon with Blade, and that hope isn't high because Deathloop's characters had the charisma of a venereal disease.
Not saying I don't like Shadows, but I just can't shake the vile feeling on tokenism in it. But then again maybe I should shut my whinny mouth and work on my own game, if I have so many opinions about a pastime. Either way i see your point op.
He was a real existing Person.
If anything your Post is disgusting, or... should i say... "Absurd"
The person above you also does make a point still that you ignored, if other AC games have always had the main characters be usually the race of the area the games setting is in, why did shadows suddenly choose different? And why does it matter if the person was real or not? his race still is not the normal of Japan during that time.
OR what? would you be fine if Assassins creed africa had a white dude as the main character? There have been white people in Africa as well you know?
Just change the entire conversation each post.
