Any mod out yet that makes Yasuke Asian?
I think that would fit the setting better so maybe someone made one yet 😀

Blackbeard's whole story was about him wanting to help some town that was under British rule, there is even a part of the game where he attacks British warships to secure medicine to give to the poor ill people of the town. Right before his death he shouts the game's most iconic line at the player: "in a world without gold, we might have been heroes".
Sure sounds like he already was.
He was a pirate.....They literally fought against the British navy. Literally still a pirate, and that town was a pirate town which was Nassau. He attacked the British Colony at Charles-Towne to procure medicine for Nassau. He even took hostages. So sure a hero but a hero to pirates not portrayed as a hero for the common people.
You mean to the common people in game? Sure, but I'm not talking about that. Kenway is a pirate too, but everything he does with Blackbeard is presented in a heroic or at least a very well justified way to us.

It isnt, its portrayed as piracy...Looting and pillaging trade ships and galleons. You literally have bounty hunters trying to take you down. We know who we are playing as, a pirate.
y'all got issues

It takes the lowest effort of Google-fu'ing to find out that many Samurai were openly gay, and they didn't pitch a fit about it. This is a modern day hang up.
Again, Samurai were....Yasuke wasnt a samurai who was raised in japan. He was a foreigner who was a retainer for 15 months before Oda died. Dont think he was Gay exactly.

Nexus mods would never allow a mod to change a black person to another race. But they do allow mods to change any other race to black people.

I mean.... youre changing the race of someone who actually existed. Not cool. Might as well make Abraham Lincoln Mexican

First Abraham Lincoln has to magically speak and understand Spanish, and appropriate a name for himself, such as Juan or Carlos, and then became an officer of the PolicĂa

Fine, fine. It's a Japanese influencer, translating "retainer" in English to Japanese. Referencing the Japanese dictionary, she explains that while Yasuke's official title is never formally stated, he was treated as a "kusho" or "bushi", which she exclaims, with frustration, that these are "both categories of Samurai!"

And she's not the first or second authentically Japanese person I've seen make the same point, about Yasuke being or practicing "bushi", and therefore likely was a Samurai. Anecdotal, but I've seen more authentically Japanese people defending his reputation as a Samurai than doubting. All of the doubt I've seen has come from the English speaking West, whom, arrogantly believe they know Japanese history better than actual Japanese people speaking Japanese to the camera.

FOR INSTANCE, here's a link to an authentic Japanese news broadcast about the 40th Azuchi Nobunaga Festival, in which they specifically recognize and honor Yasuke as a Samurai, and hired an actor to portray him in a re-enactment of one of Nobunaga's battles.

Skip ahead to 42 seconds into the video to see the relevant parts.

Don't you get it? All across Japan, the Japanese people are the ones whom have always introduced Yasuke to the world as a Samurai. And this festival was just last year, in 2024!

At some point you need to put pride and hubris aside, and maybe consider the reality that the people who told you that Yasuke wasn't a Samurai were actually the ones pushing an agenda. The Japanese people are telling you, unequivocally, that he was a Samurai. Watch the news broadcast again. That's their culture, their history, and a holiday they're celebrating in honor of Oda Nobunaga. THEY are the ones including and featuring Yasuke, dressed in full Samurai armor, among the other Samurai in their honorary traditions.

You have to have some gall to tell a whole civilization of people they're wrong about their own history. Now, no offense, it becomes less about them and more about you, and your willingness to consider new information.

Brother, this means nothing. There are folk lore about him being a samurai. We all know what Samurai were called before and guess what those words are the same for warrior as well everyone who was a warrior was called that and Yasuke was a warrior, but we know what we are talking about. Listen it is historians in japan whom are still debating about Yasukes official title and the actual history of him being a retainer. This nonsense isnt sufficient neither is it definitive proof of him being a samurai.

Imagine com,ing over here and bringing up everything besides actual evidence to prove your point.
Even though this is typical bait probably...

for the previous games modders eventually did make it possible to swap faces, hairstyles and even body types for the playable character. So in theory it should be possible to give Naoe a different face and different hairstyle eventually, maybe even somewhat different body type, depending on how armour works in this game (i.e. if it conforms or not)... changing Yasuke may be impossible because he's so big, but it may be possible to make him look Japanese, but then his entire story would make literally zero sense, so why anyone would want to change Yasuke's race etc is beyond me.

And should Nexus ban it then one of the other non censored mod sites would host it.

I would like to have modding options for Naoe's hair (and maybe an option to remove the scars), but changing Yasuke's ethnicity feels infantile when his ethnicity and origin is an essential part of this story in this game. But technically speaking at least the modding tools for the previous games allowed to swap faces etc.
Im just waiting for mods that put Yasuke in swimwear.

So we have Japanese historians saying he was a Samurai.

We have Japanese people, literally speaking Japanese and referring to a Japanese dictionary to explain why the language associated with him strongly suggests he was a Samurai.

We have Japanese historical dramas portraying him as a Samurai.

We have whole festivals, broadcast on Japanese news networks, recognizing and honoring him as a Samurai, while literally dressed in full Samurai armor and re-enacting historical battles.
