Am I the only one frustrated by the Build shrine mode

On the surface I feel this shouldn't be in this game, and if you include it, you have to make it overly simplistic, like it should be as intuitive as The Sims.
I find it to be a big waste of time, my frustration level with it gets filled up quick and I just quit the game.
