It's going to win best Action/Adventure, guaranteed. It also has a good shot at Game of The Year. If that's not enough for you, then nothing is.
If you do purchase it, I'd recommend only playing as Naoe. She's the full-blown Assassin's Creed experience.
Yasuke is the worst thing about this game. He's completely out of his element in Assassin's Creed. He's so bad that you'll never see Ubisoft Quebec or Montreal attempt this experiment again. Throwing an unskilled thug in an Assassin's Creed game. He has none of the skills required to play Creed.
The game looks beautiful, sounds beautiful, runs great, has very good Japanese voice acting, but terrible English voice acting. Don't expect great writing.
Combat and exploration are this game's highlights. The base-building is only good if you do the previous two things because you need to loot, collect, and purchase everything if you want to build a beautiful base.
There is a lot to do in Shadows. Depending on how you play your action/adventure games, you can easily get 200 hours out of it. For me, it'll likely take 300 hours to fully explore.
Best bang for your buck this year. Value for money is high. As long as you have a computer that can run it properly, you'll be entertained for a long time.
Don't buy it if you're impatient and like to brag about beating video games in X-number of minutes. It's meant to be explored and absorbed, not beaten to death in ten hours.
But why the 10 seconds switch & load time between characters?
Cut scenes with both characters loads instantly, there is zero technical reason for this wait times. It's like they purposely designed switching to be a pain in the ass. Worst decision ever,
Probably because the whole game world needs to adjust when you switch characters, including NPC's that react differently depending who you're playing.
From the most recent games Valhalla is one of my favourite. AC: Shadows looks pretty and that's about it as good as it gets. The amount of cut scenes in this game stops it playing smooth story line, I agree that why do we have to keep shifting through two characters,?! Also clue should be in the title. Samurai kind of goes against what its all about.
Having a historical character, irrelevant of its source as a main playable character is and was a mistake, its the first time they have done it and i hope they never do it again.
There was nothing wrong with having Yasuke as a side NPC we interact with. Even have him as the AC from Mozambique coming to Japan to create an outpost there. Whatever fictional BS you wanna make up. Was fine when they used Leonardo Davinci in AC:2.
No one would have had issues this way.
Based. You can have my points good sir
Outside of that, the story is decent with a few plot twists. I find both character have stories that I can get invested into and are actually likeable. It feels like a middle of the road game, standard affair stuff here. AC with a new coat of paint.
I literally fought a yokai. What game are you playing?
Boring AF with an utterly pointless two character system where only one is an actual assassin.
AC needs to be put to sleep permanently.
THey should have added timed-abilities, something tactical to the combat etc.
I also disliked the hideout system. I build, I find Tower, I rebuild, I find Archer Spot, I rebuild etc. It breaks my immersion I gotta build my hideout again every time.
I completed the game using controller about 90% of the playthrough. I didn't really find a problem. My Xbox One and my old Xbox 360 controller work well for me in this game.
