how to "gain" wanted level?

ok so im trying to grind cash, and from what im told best way is to get a wanted level and kill ronin.....

ive tried googling it but all i can find is how to "lose" wanted levels......
but nothing on how to "gain" it =/

could ya'll tell me how, cheers

Get noticed and let an NPC in a hostile fort/castle/etc with an alarm bell ring the bell, it will then spawn "Guardian" mobs which is what I'm guessing you're referring to.

yh, no idea, it just says to go to a area where im wanted and it'll start spawning roaming ronin that will attack me on sight :),
but hey if the guardians give me cash aswell even better XD

as much as im enjoying going full "tenchu stealth assassin" on the castles looting and selling the resources inbetween, building up my base,

it would be nice to simply get a big lootbag per kill instead of having to clear a whole castle just to loot in peace lmao

I have only achieved wanted levels one or two times in 30 levels but Ronin are definitely roaming the streets and paths of the world and are instantly hostile to me now. I am not 100% what triggered it.

If I remember correctly I've encountered a ronin in a shrine. Where people tried to pray and I was just wandering around. He attacked me on sight. No wanted level needed.

That starts a whole quest. Not sure how related it is though.
