I feel for Ubisoft Line Employees
I honestly feel bad for the line workers that have no power to make decisions. The employees who were encouraged to buy stock options in their own company, while promised great financial gain along with the overall company's success. Those are the people who this hurts the most, because they all just lost alot of money and soon their jobs more than likely.

This tencent deal is the death nail in the Ubisoft coffin. They just signaled as a company, they will not exist in 1, 2 ish years. It would not shock me if Tencent decides to just close down every single Ubisoft office and sit on the IP's for a decade before making content from them again. They only paid 1.2 ish Billion for 25% stake, that's kinda low! Sony paid Bungie nearly 4 Billion and that was for just one development studio and one and a half games!

:steamthis: Not aware that 25% is not a majority and that Ubisoft has the controlling rights over the IPs.

A 25% stake in the NEW subsidiary, not Ubisoft. :steamfacepalm:

The part about multiple years down the line went over your head. Yes its 25% right now. Yes technically a subsidiary, but that is step one. Tencent needs a subsidiary based in China per their country's corporate rules. That 25% share will grow to total control over time. Its a pretty simple takeover playbook.

Which now owns their 3 biggest IP's.
