How can you tell what missions are main missions and what are side missions?
Whoever designed the quest/mission interface in this game needs to take a class on how to design a quest/mission interface. It is unnecessarily opaque and confusing.

How can I tell if a mission in the Objectives screen is a main quest, side quest, etc? It's so confusing.

You actually unlock more main quests as you go. The quests shown in the Objectives menu under "People" are side missions. Most assassination type missions are related to the main story and the main characters. There's a lot. It gets pretty deep.

Main missions revolve around the people you have to assassinate. There are 3 quests per picture. Some may unlock a 4th quest depending on how you handle the situation.
