You can see what the Youtubers have to say while keeping a tab open in browser to verify. So if a Youtuber is saying "So and so said THIS on X".. You can literally go to X and check it out for yourself.
You assume nobody verifies what Youtubers say. That is absurd. I verify all the time regardless if it is Youtuber, TV Reporter, or Radio Host saying something.
Tencent is one of the world's biggest video games publishers. They are Chinese and in their early days (maybe still the case?) they would receive gobs of cash from the Chinese Government every quarter. I was an investor of Tencent and listened in on their earnings calls many years ago. My jaw dropped regarding how much money China was stuffing down the pants of their corporations back then to keep their companies afloat... cause Tencent wasn't very profitable back then at all.
It's almost like making a bad game loses money.
I tend not to waste my time watching YouTubers who frequently lie.
they inject more microtransactions in everything they touch. ubisoft was already bad with mtx, tencent's involvement will make it even worse.
tencent is bad for gaming, but apparently that's a win to some people.
edit: the only good thing about tencent is they tend to not mess with the creative aspect of the studios they buy out. so long as they make money off of gacha skins and cosmetic weapons, they usually let devs make the games they make.
And you would be ok if someone called you that name and recommended you were banned from Steam forums? I doubt it. Just because you don't agree with someone... doesn't mean you should be asking for their banning. In fact, you should be happy they can speak because if your opinions are stronger and more right than Asmondgoild's opinions, you should be winning each and every time he speaks.
I don't get while so many want to silence the opinions of people that differ from their own. I for one welcome to hear from opposing opinions all the time.
Not commonly done? Asmondgold talks an awful lot about the video game business on his channel right? Anyone that pays any attention to Asmondgold is someone we can assume is interested in the video games business or video games period. Therefore... We can assume the viewers know how to do some simple basic things like downloading a video game demo to check it out... Or logging onto a developer's website. Or logging onto a developer's social media account.
Takes just a few clicks of the mouse and you can verify just about anything Asmondgold or anyone else says. I highly doubt you are right here. Viewers verify.. It is too easy to do.
For me it looks like:
- For major franchises nothing is going to change. The sludge of cookie-cutter games will continue. Monetisation/mictrotransactions would probably became more aggressive - like building gameplay around a problem just to sell the solution to you.
- There probably would be layoffs. Mostly for teams who worked on minor IPs.
- Minor IPs would be put on ice or, at best, sold to other companies. Which is the most sad point to me, since recently I got a survey from Ubisoft HOMM team asking opinion about how to improve the franchise, so I had an impression that they finally want to fix it.
