Ubisoft won….
The success of AC shadows let them negotiate a better deal with Tencent.

They put their most valuable IPs into a new company in case the current company burns down, but not only that.

With the cash injection from Tencent they bought themselves close to 2 year to get the company on the right track.

Regardless of your feelings on AC shadows, Ubisoft bet it all on this game and came out alive on the other side when they were 90-95% likely to go bankrupt.

Ubisoft right now is probably dancing to this song:
Elton John - I’m Still Standing (
https://youtu.be/ZHwVBirqD2s?si=G_W06pKgkaQ00Az0

The haters lost…and they tried so hard too. Turns out that manchilds (Grummz), bottle pissers (Asmongold) and clowns (Elon)…..aren’t exactly the arbiters of what will be successful or not.

Can you please add Hillary Clinton sending people to gitmo in this fantasy you have? /s

Not everything has to be political.

Then why are we arguing?

Wasn’t it your side that invaded the discussion thread with anti-woke bile from the beginning? Seems like it’s on you guys.

The problems with this developer are problems with the industry. Everyone wants to make a mint in the live service rackets. Everyone wants to release early to make deadlines, and then fix the games weeks or months after launch.

The problem is for every break out money machine, or game that is given a free pass due to nostalgia. There are a hundred others that crash and burn often unremarked. The industry is churning out money pits, and doesn't want to see the reality of the situation.

Hell often enough they'll blame their economic woes. On not pushing harder on live services, or having to delay and missing deadlines. It isn't about politics, but doing the job right. Left with no alternative. They released a proper game.

I suppose they did win as they survived. The same wont end up holding true. For many other publishers/developers.

The haters as you guys call them are mostly people who want games to have a high level of quality and integrity. E.g. like Larian Studios.

I call haters who desperately argue that
- the game insults japanese culture (it doesn't)
- the game failed (it is the second most successful AC game, except in benchmarks where it is the first)
- Ubisoft falsified history with the black samurai (They didn't. It's not a documentary, it's a fiction based on real events and people - just like every other AC game before.)
- Steam user reviews lie
- Official player counts lie
- Steam player counts lie
- Everybody lies who claims the game is on the right track to become profitable

For some reason they never mention Steam sales chart where the game reached second place last week. They did mention a 10 USD early access game however that sold more copies - meaning AC Shadows is a flop (according to haters).

There is a huge difference between constructively critiqueing a game/studio/publisher and hoping that thousands of devs lose their job for having the audacity to build an entertainment product. The decisions Ubisoft is hated for, legitimate or not, are made at an executive/managerial level.

Wanting to see new leadership? Sure. Hoping the average Joe Ubi employee loses their job for building a game you don't like is wild to me. I just don't understand how you get to that level of toxicity. Not saying you are saying that, I don't know you. But I have definitely seen it frequently in the lead up to this game.
I dont think there is anything wrong in hoping a company fails if you strongly disagree with the quality of the product vs what you pay. In this case a videogame that has pay to win elements in a single player game for 70 dollars. I think its ubisoft thats gave gamers the middle finger first not the other way around. Also anyone hoping that they go out of buisness will not make them go out of buisness. Thats just their opinion. That wont close them down. Sure we can vote with our wallet and many seems to do that and that is fair. I dont hope the devlopers will burn for this. I also blame the leadership most of all. But if you walk on the street and someone gives you the middle finger you are not gna ask them out for dinner are you.

Heres the whole arc here on the forums:

- Ubisoft announces "x million players" post while stock continues to fall
- "Its selling amazing, chuds/incels/(insert here) are fuming"
- Ubisoft and tencent creates subsidiary and move profitable IPs into Not Ubisoft
- "Okay, it didnt sell as much as needed but its still a hit" (You are here)
- "Okay, it isnt a hit but Ubisoft will survive"
- Ubisoft lays off employees not involved with major IPs and Not Ubisoft
- Ubisoft shutters its doors
- "I hate all of you chuds/incels/(insert here), you are the problem with modern games"

So your beef is quality vs price and microtransactions?

That’s refreshing. I’d say you’re in the minority though for what people are criticizing this game and Ubisoft for.

They seem more concerned with content vs. price than quality vs. price. For every handful of posts criticizing microtransactions and always online DRM, I see dozens concerned about whether or not a black man ever held a sword in feudal Japan and whether or not he was gay.

It’s nice to see someone remaining objective.

The only way this will work is if they fire all the Ubisoft staff, and ban all woke political agenda content. If they keep allowing the same trash, then it's going to fail again.

LOL Tencent being the new owners and 23,000 employees most likely losing their jobs doesn’t sound like a Ubisoft win what so ever

Losing 25% of the company to the chinesse = The haters lost.

Better than going bankrupt, which was very likely.

Do people like you ever wonder why Ubi Soft was heading for bankruptcy?
Are anyone willing to have that discussion at some point?
Its the same with Bioware, andromeda and veilguard people spoke up and were called haters, and now biowares next mass effect has a dev team of only 80 people.
Yeah, thats how much EA wanna spend on it.

Can I ask why owning the "gamers" is so important to game publishers...? owning the asmongoloid for the giving up your ip's to another company weird...WEİRD...

Can I ask why you think clowns like Asmongold represent 'gamers' despite how many other people who obviously play video games disagree with right wing takes?

That probably what will happen
https://www.pcgamer.com/gaming-industry/ubisoft-and-tencent-are-forming-a-new-company-that-will-take-control-of-its-most-successful-franchises-assassins-creed-far-cry-and-rainbow-six/

"With the creation of a dedicated subsidiary that will spearhead development for three of our largest franchises and the onboarding of Tencent as a minority investor, we are crystalizing the value of our assets, strengthening our balance sheet, and creating the best conditions for these franchises’ long-term growth and success. With its dedicated and autonomous leadership team, it will focus on transforming these three brands into unique ecosystems."

I doubt a lot of Ubi staff will be working there, most of it will be probably filled with people hired by Tencent, since they will have control over that subsidiary and is the reason why they put so much money into Ubisoft now, to get those rights.

Its a win win situation for everyone. Ubisoft "technically" keeps their right to the games but Tencent will probably have full control over how those are handled.
After closing of the transaction, the new subsidiary would remain exclusively
controlled and consolidated by Ubisoft.
