Shadows suitable for new AC player?
I have only ever played the introduction to AC Odyssey a long time ago and have not touched any AC games since. As a fan och Ghost as well as feudal Japan in general, and after hearing such positive things about shadows, I am wondering if you guys find this game suitable for someone who is new to the franchise?

Aka, is the game "AC beginner friendly" or should I consider playing another AC game first to get used to the stealth mechanics and aspects of the game? I am aware of the fact that the games are not linked in any way and are complete stand alones (at least the newer ones).

Many thanks!

No need to play other games to play this one. If you liked Odyssey you'll like this one.

It doesn’t matter which game you play or in what order.

Go right ahead. :) Shadows is the quintessential Assassin’s Creed game.

Yes, absolutely. This is a spin off title.

A lot of the usual methods to approach stealth on the previous games don't work exactly the same on Shadows. You'd probably be better off starting with Shadows than some of us who had a lot of "oh ♥♥♥♥ that doesn't work anymore" moments.
They're not actually completely standalone games. There is an overarching narrative that connects every AC game. That said, they really can be played on their own. If you think you'll care about the "modern day" storyline that connects the games and don't want spoilers I'd suggest starting from the beginning and go from there. If you don't think you'll care about that then Shadows is a perfectly fine game to start with.

No it isn't.
Up till now there is not 'modern day' moments as there was in previous games. It lacks a lot of real Creed, but it is easy to get into. Some moments may puzzle you, for they make more sense after playing Valhalla. Valhalla is, for now, a lot more fun if you like Vikings.
The only thing Shadows is suitable for is the trashcan, if you played any of the AC games after origin you played this one already. It's the same microtransaction infested, cookiecutter stale Ubislop formula as with every game they released within the last 10 years.

Save your money and spend it on something else

Yes, it's a good AC game and very friendly to newcomers to the franchise.

It also depicts feudal Japan really well. A lot of history codex for you to learn more about Japan as well in the game.

Ignore the biggots on here. I love Ghost and I am loving this so far, so go for buddy.
the graphism are cool , the gameplay/story is pathetic af tho.
Def not worth the price

Honestly, every AC game is beginner friendly. They do that on purpose. Also, every AC game does something different (sometimes a lot different) than the others. There are some basic similarities but otherwise, you don't really need to be an expert in any of the other games.

In fact, as mentioned above, sometimes it can be the opposite when you come from an AC that has really easy stealth kills to one where they aren't guaranteed by default, you can get in a lot of trouble quickly. And the combat can range from brain dead to somewhat complicated. From fast speed to the more deliberate. This game is on the deliberate side mostly. It rewards making the right move over the quick one... usually.

Depends on who you play as in this game. Yasuke can just smash through everything, even multiple Guardians and Samurai Daisho. Naoe on the other hand, you're much better off using stealth and picking and choosing who to assassinate and when.

Agreed and that's the beauty of this AC title. You have options of how you want to play.
