I just chose responses naturally and she went off to do her own thing or something. Basically every NPC has done that so far to be honest. I'm 40 hours in and I haven't even done anything with allies yet. I think you can summon them in fights or something, but I've never had a reason to use an ability like that.
They're very convenient with stealth. You can have two allies set at a time, and I have one ally set for frontline combat and one for pure stealth.
