The problem with Yasuke.
Lets be real we can *hopefully* all agree the people hating his character purely because he is black are losers. but in terms of the game,,, he doesn't really fit convincingly, like cutting off pieces of a jigsaw puzzle to fit it somewhere it shouldn't go because you're too stubborn.

- without talking about his actual historical background because its still a heated topic of debate and because i will not be listening to schizo rambles of mad people on the internet trying to win meaningless arguments, only credible Japanese historians, which I've seen articles from both sides of the coin saying both he is and is not. so even in japan it is a debated topic still so lets leave it at that and not argue about it because its pointless.
also id like to point out that honestly he really didnt NEED to be in the game. many people online calling other people racist for this for not wanting to include anyone but white males as leads for games but the assassins creed franchise has had multiple POC leads in their games:
Adéwalé in AC freedom cry.
Connor (Ratonhnhaké:ton) in AC3.
Aveline de Grandpré AC liberation.
Basim Ibn Ishaq in AC Mirage.
Bayek of Siwa in AC Origins.

all of these people we can play are none white leads for their own AC game. nobody had any problems with these characters. at least not as big of a backlash to them as yasuke. leading me to think that really most people only care about his historical accuracy, not his skin colour.

so to go back to the point of him fitting in. again, is it convincing enough? first experiencing Yasuke at the start where he already knows the language (ridiculous) but to make the game transition smoother..? so i guess that's why we switch to Naoe, which in game play sense is brilliant because she really does capture the "assassin" vibe. we then can spend several hours with her learning the game mechanics, exploring the world, etc.. when suddenly yasuke is forced back onto us and for a lot of people its such a 180 of how you play them vs Naoe its probably the biggest block to pacing ive seen in a game like this. i feel like they could have explored his character in a much more interesting way.

- my idea on this would be making his missions like fragments on the dna sequence that you go experience to the setup of the actual game, then some missions during your time playing as Naoe, then leading up to the events where you meet in the story, and so forth, but making him stick with the villains, making him an assassination target, BUT giving us his side of the story before eventually having to kill him. (im saying this all without fully completing the story so if anything is similar then oops)

I don't think it's as complicated as all that.

Its just hard to fight samurai as Naoe. She's squishy, and small.

The games main groups are Shinobi vs Samurai, so it makes perfect sense to me that he's here to show the chops of what it's like to be a samurai in the game.
Yasuke is awesome and has a fantastic story too.
Spectacular, for me he could even be a Monk from Portugal, who was born in India and played a spy role in Northern Spain.
Irrelevant.

sorry i didnt read it properly on my first reply. i dont think its hard to fight samurai as naoe, ou just gotta be more careful. so cutting out combat its all exploration and yasuke doesnt do that so whats the point yk? but i do get what you are saying it IS a different perspective on combat, i just dont think its really all that good... they could have done much more with it.. with him
