Is this game racist?
I’ve heard bits and pieces online, but I have no idea of the actual facts.
Some say that the game is racist, others are saying that the people that claim the game is racist are racist.🥴
I heard that Japanese gamers are offended; that the Japanese government have banned the game or are talking about banning it. I heard that Ubisoft picked an offensive date to the Japanese to market the game, that they trivialised a national monument or something to make a toy? I also heard that they mixed in Chinese with Japanese culture in the game which offended people.
Was Yasuke the first black homosexual samurai in feudal Japan or a glorified baggage handler?
Should I be blacklisting Ubisoft or adding this game to my wishlist?

this is not a thing at all
Technically they were excluded on scholarships, and college admission for minortities, people from India also fall into that category. They were excluded when they showed the wealth gap in minority/white statistics, because they generally made more money than whites, which would ruin the narrative most studies were pushing. Not sure what that has to do with the game however.
we call this "the myth of the model minority" and it does not make them white
discrimination takes two forms; hostile and benevolent. Benevolent discrimination is things like "we must protect the vulnerable women from having to work outside the home", and it still has the same kinds of effects as hostile discrimination like "women aren't smart enough to work outside the home". SE asians have faced less hostile discrimination and more benevolent discrimination in the US. This is not evidence that they are not discriminated against...

It's worse the more you dive into it. Japanese people are definitely offended, people who say they aren't can just go watch the distrack they made about this game 8 months ago Ish, I think. It's on youtube, just search japan distrack yasuke or assassins creed shadow, I'm sure you will find it. A lot of japanese people are voicing their opinions there. Anyone claiming Japan are not offended are just lying and gaslighting people.

As for the ban, I don't know if they have talked about that exactly, although considering how offensive the game and ubisoft has been, it's surprising that it hasn't been.

Yeah one of the dates they choose was on the day of the largest terrorist attack in japan, but this could just be accidental, to be fair, but makes you wonder still when you take into the account the long list of nonsense ubisoft has pulled off, like yes The torii gate merch, that was made after the nagasaki bombing. I can't remember which main character was sitting on top of the Torii gate, but to sell something like this is insanly tasteless.

Yes, it's a lot of chinese elements surrounding the game, chinese writing on merch and was it a deluxe edition too?, cant remember, but they defintely tried to sell merch in japan that was supposed to be aimed at the japanese market, but it was written in chinese. Then the chinese music, themes, architecture. It's like ubisoft would go like this, "All asians are the same right?." Not to mention the hiphop music with Yasuke, like the ubisoft trailer, lol. Kinda playing into a lot of stereotypes here.

Then of course trying to rewrite history, trying to say Yasuke was a samurai when he wasn't. By basing all their info on some fanfic lunatic who was obessed about claiming Yasuke was a samurai. Who even edited the wikipedia page to use as proof for his own claims. Ubisoft of course proudly claimed the game is historically accurate, they did backtrack, but then they reclaimed it was again, possible they backtracked a second time, but I'm not sure about that one. But during all this you had the same usual stick, no accountability or taking any responsbility, blaiming "haters". People defending this game are of course using the lunatic's fanfic as proof, Thomas Lockley I think was his name.

Anyway, to be fair. I have to sit down and practically write a novel at this point to highlight all the nonsense ubisoft has pulled off with this game, don't feel like doing that when this will most likely be deleted anyway.

next he's gonna ask if the pope has ever fist fought an italian hitman over some metal ball
yes but the pope is a bad man with evil intent where japan is pure, holy and sacred. japan must be protected above all else in the world. most people realize this.

Stop Asian Hate was a thing a while back, but then people noticed who were doing all the "hate" and then didn't dare to speak about it ever again. Since Asians in USA are considered "white" due to general highest income per race it's totally fine to portray black dude slaying Japanese people in this game by modern standarts, yet pointing this out makes you the rAcIsT, somehow.
Isn't modern mental gymnastics fun? I hope this answered your question, OP.
bunch of nonsense Asians where never considered White, check the census .

That’s a lot to process. I appreciate the long comment. I guess with regard to choosing the date of a tragic terrorist attack they would not have even consulted their so-called historians who have failed them time and again. That was probably strictly a marketing decision. The marketers failed them as well, clearly. Personally, I agree, it just seems like a case of further ignorance and not company racism.
Making a toy of the Torrii gate with an assassin perched atop. Oh boy. 🫣 I wanna be fair and say that it’s a cornucopia of failures and not systemic racism. Taken all together it doesn’t look good though.

Ill just point out nintendo released animal crossing new horizon on the same date aka march 20th and they are a japanese company releasing thair game on the same anniversary off the terrorist attack so i wouldent hold it against ubisoft since if u look into any day in history there will have been some tragic even in most countries
bunch of bs Asians where never considered white, check the census .

you wish they where, because they have higher IQ overall.
Wokies are all about feelings not facts. They see them as "privileged" as whites so it's OK to attack them.

Speaking of statistics hispanics are now considered as "whites", too. just to skew crime statistics and not to offend certain demographic.

Yes its extremely racist, This game implies everyone that is Japanese are weak that got easily ruled by Portuguese slave traders working with the Crusaders, Whole japan is controlled by them, and all the iconic male japanese historicall figures are depicted as scumbag such as Hanzo.

So who considered literally Asian people as White folks? No one, especially after Hiroshima and Nagasaki history.

From what I've seen, no, not really. It's not entirely historical, either, but it never aimed to be. They said from the start this wouldn't be a "historical samurai drama". It's historical fiction. I think a character inspired by Yasuke would've been a better choice than the figure himself, but it's not particularly racist or anything. No stereotyping that I've seen yet.
I'm so fed up with people being offended by everything. It's getting so ridiculous.
Yes, as an Asian myself, seeing a fictional big black samurai chop other Asians in half is quite freaking racist.

I'm not Asian, but this game allows you to play only as a black dude or a Japanese woman. I'm Bulgarian, so my immersion would be broken. Was it so hard to have an in-game character editor that allows you to make your own character? Even if you can't make a character that is 100% like you, then you can make some abomination and have fun doing it. Spiffing Brit uses that way to have fun quite often.
