The more I played these games, the worse they seemed. After 70h of Origins i had enough of this gameplay. Is Shadows so similar?
Origins 9/10
Odyssey 8/10
Valhalla 6/10 (I just couldn't finish this)
Shadows ?/10

Origins I got every Steam achievement, then it started going downhill. Odyssey I ended up buying on Ubisoft and I wasn't as attached to it. Then I continued that trend and purchased Valhalla on Ubisoft and only 1 timed that one too. Mirage I tried and didn't enjoy. Now with Shadows I finally back to my Steam approach and enjoying it like Origins.

Origins-7/10-I like about everything with the game but it ran like crap and I didn't find out how to force the game to run in Vulkan to gain like a 100% boost in performance many years later so the first impression was ruined.

Odyssey-8.5/10-I'm a sucker for Spartan stuff and I really liked the ship combat.

Valhalla-6.5-I just didn't like the combat and the removal of ship combat it just felt like a downgrade in about everything when compared to Odyssey.

Shadow-6.0-So far same thing just feels disappointing if that makes since and I'm Japanese and the amount of small things they gotten wrong with even general environment just bug me extra.

Origins - N/A, didn't play.
Odyssey - 6.5, I liked the overall feel but wasn't a fan of sword-sponge combat.
Valhalla - 7, a little less spongey and it had a vibe I liked.
Shadows - Tentative 9. I need to see more, but there are a few key ways to win me over: Immersive environments in an open world game (the weather does it), beautiful vistas in an open world game, and basebuilding. The basebuilding mechanic seems particularly robust and I'm a sucker for such things.
origin 7/10- not a fan of egypt
Odyssey 9/10 For the sparta!
Valhalla 6/10 its more boring
Shadow 6/10

Origins 7/10 I didn't care much for the setting or story, but the combat as pretty fun. I wish more AC games let you use spears.

Odyssey 8/10 Pretty good, but not optimized very well on PC. Also has spears.

Valhalla 8/10 I loved this setting, but again not optimized well. It's also bloated AF, and feels like the least AC game on the list. Still fun though.

Shadows 9/10 Finally an AC game that runs great on PC! Absolutely gorgeous graphics, seasonal changes are also welcome. Stealth and combat are great. Still pretty bloated, I wish more AC games had tighter stories like Mirage.

I absolutely love that you never put Mirage in this mix LOL, but
Origins ?/10 (never finished) played on PC
Odyssey 9/10 (finished) played on PS4 Pro
Valhalla 9/10 (got better over the span of time) played on PS4 Pro and PC
(never played Mirage)
Shadows ?/10 (leaning to a 9 but don't know yet until finished) PC
I haven't finished a single one of these games. Other than Origins and Shadows (I'm working on this one!) I did spend at least 50 hours in Odyssey and Valhalla.

Origins 5/10
Odyssey 8/10
Valhalla 8/10
Shadows ~8.5/10 (still thinking about it)

Origins just didn't do it for me.

Odyssey, I didn't finish, partly because my old computer sucked too much for it. And whenever I was in the mood to try it again with a substantially better PC, another game/something else came up. I love Greece and its history/mythology of antiquity. So, the setting automatically was an in for me. Setting and exploring it with the ship island hopping was awesome. The story did not pull me in, combat was kinda dumb, stealth sucked, and the gear/loot system was awful.

Valhalla: I like Norse stuff. Norway intro was awesome. England sucks. The raids were not as cool as they should have been. Not being able to kill civilians without risk of desync was stupid and particularly immersion breaking here. The god stuff I didn't get much of, but looked like it was shaping up to be a stupid take on a cool mythology in the real world folk legends. Open combat was very good for the franchise. Steal sucked. Loot/gear was the best in franchise. Music was cool. Way too big, got kinda lost/overwhelmed in it, and with me not loving the setting (England), that kinda ended it for me. Despite several of the aspects of the game itself, really working well.

Shadows: I am interested in Japan and I know some of the culture (looking to learn more) and I speak some of the language, so this is neat to play an AC where I can understand the language. I am still feeling things out in this one, but, a lot of the systems work well. The hideout, despite my initial reservations about it and usually not liking such things, it's cool and really supports the main gameplay loop. I want to upgrade and work on it. Though, I probably won't be cosmetically decorating it and stuff, I do like the utility of it all as a feedback loop with the exploration and combat. The combat is jockeying with Valhalla for best in series IMO, but I still need to experience more to have a final verdict. Stealth IS best in series. I like the quests being not just here's a marker, the scouting sounded stupid, but I like it. I like the clues to at least kinda think about stuff, and it makes me not totally shut my brain off and follow a dot. Music is cool. Some of the story is good and some of it is kinda...abrupt in how they implement it. Weird assed scene transitions sometimes and a little unexpected in how the pacing is going along, going along, then bam, that's it for a quest/story beat.

So far, Shadows is the best complete package. I maintain that Odyssey and Valhalla did do some individual things better, but as a whole, Shadows seems to elbow them out IMO.
